SYC Youth Club

General Information

Who Can Participate?

SYC Youth Field Hockey program is open to girls and boys ages 5-12.  We have a program for K-2 and U9, U11, and U13 teams (Under age 9, 11 or 13 as of 9/01) in the SYCSD or surrounding Southern York County area.  For 2nd graders, they can choose either to participate in the K-2 program or the U9 program.  If a player has little to no experience, the K-2 program might be a good place to start.  If you are unsure which program to choose, please reach out for advice.  Note: If interested, players can play for a team in their own age group and play in the next older age group.  Players can play up a division, but may not play down.

What is the Commitment?
For the K-2 program, the commitment is 2 days per week for either practices or games/scrimmages.  For U9, U11, and U13, the commitment is 2-3 days per week, 2 days for practices and 1 weekend game/scrimmage (games for CPYFHL will be played on Sundays afternoons).

Practice:
Practices will be local, generally in the evening or Saturday mornings for approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours.

Games:
For the U9, U11, and U13 teams, they will participate in approximately 8-10 games in the Central PA Youth Field Hockey League (CPYFHL).  Practices will start in August and games will start in September and run through the end of October or early November. We will play 7v7 with or without goalies and follow the CPYFHL program rules:

Sportsmanship:

We are strong proponents of good sportsmanship and team spirit.  We expect nothing less from our players, coaches and parents. We ask that everyone please be respectful on and off the field, both during practices and games.  This means no foul language, no talking poorly about a player, coach or referee.  We may not agree or like all of the decisions that coaches or referees are making, but they are doing the best job they can.  Bottom line, we will not tolerate bad behavior or negative attitudes and will take disciplinary action if necessary.

K-2: $60 program fee

U9: $160 program fee

U11: $160 program fee
