 What is Competitive Cheer?

The SYC Competitive Cheerleading Squad is a competitive, recreation cheer program that incorporates cheer, dance, jumps,  stunting, and tumbling into a choreographed 2 minute 30 second routine to compete in area cheer competitions.


Who Can Participate?

Competitive cheer is open to cheerleaders in Kindergarten through 8th grade in SYCSD or the surrounding Southern York County area. All participants must attend an evaluation in order to qualify for the team. Our K-6th grade cheerleaders have the opportunity to cheer for football and basketball cheer through recreation programs.  Cheerleaders are also able to tryout for middle school cheer in grades 7 thru 8. 


What is the Commitment?

Team Tumbling
Team tumbling will take place at Titanium Athletics from August 22, 2024 thru March 27, 2025.  Athletes are to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of class.  There is to be no food or drink (except closed lid water bottle) within the tumbling room.  

6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  8U Team Tumbling
7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  12U Team Tumbling

Team Tumbling is a separate program cost paid directly to Titanium Athletics.  Please call to register for Thursday evening team tumbling and have your credit card on file for automatic monthly payment. Titanium Athletics also offers a variety of tumbling classes to help your athlete progress their skills and technique outside of Team Tumbling.


Cheer Practice
Participants must be prepared for intensive practices to initially learn and improve the choreography of the routine from late August and continuing through March. Practices are mandatory. If a child is going to miss a practice, you must notify the coach before the practice. If a child misses 2 practices they are at risk for removal from the team. We do reserve the right to remove any child who does not report to practices and competitions. Practice will take place at Titanium Athletics and Susquehannock High School - Common Area



Competitions

The teams will participate in 7 competitions from December 2024 through March 2025.


Fees:
Season 6 Fee:  $1,100. This registration fee includes facility rentals, competition fees, Youth Club insurance, bow, cost of choreography & music and more. Payment options are available from full, partial and monthly.  Monthly payments may be made in increments from August 15, 2024 through March 15, 2025




Additional expenses will include:

  • Indoor Cheerleading Shoes – (available from Flying Feet for $52)
  • Note: The fee does not include individual discretionary travel costs associated with each competition. We encourage carpooling but travel arrangements will be the responsibility of each cheer family.
