Soccer has been my passion for over 30 years. I have seen the game change from when I played 11v11 as a 7 year old. The days of Adidas purple slides and static stretching have been replaced with dynamic warm-ups and technology for cleats!
I started playing soccer as a youth but really began to understand and appreciate its complexities much later in my HighSchool and college years. My coaching career began when I was playing collegiate soccer at Madonna University in Livonia. For me, coaching athletes is an opportunity to pass information and learned skills as well as infuse confidence. I have worked with novice to semi-pro soccer players. No matter the skill level, all athletes require challenge, positive motivation and tools. I look to empower each athlete to play to their potential.
In late 2010, I was hired at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) to begin their Women’s Soccer program. With financial discounts to offer, I established the first-ever Women’s Soccer program at LTU. I built the program to be self sustaining. It still thrives. I left this position to work exclusively with the Canton Soccer Club (CSC). I have been coaching with the Canton Soccer Club for nearly 20 years. At CSC, I have the opportunity to teach youth from ages 3 to 19. My goal is the same now, empowering players to compete at their highest potential.
During the three years I have held the Community Director position, I have honed in on our youth programming offerings. Programming has gone from 17 sections to over 40 sections of youth soccer offerings. My goal is to not only continue growing our programming but to enhance the curriculum of each section and improve instructor coaching. I am vested in all things community and always looking for ways to give back.
On a personal note, my wife and I have worked in Canton Township for over 20 years. We enjoy residing in the township as well. She is an established 5th grade teacher at Workman Elementary and have a daughter, Lakin who was born in March of 2019.
