Canton Soccer Club Celtic Community

Community Director - Jamie Scott (bio)

In 2011, I began the first-ever Women’s Soccer Program for Lawrence Technological University (LTU) in Southfield, MI. My goal at the University was to build a foundation of student athletes who were committed to school and serious about the game of soccer. During my time at LTU, I earned Champions of Character Coach in 2012 and 2013. The goal I set for the program at LTU has since been completed.

My passion is empowering young athletes to reach their potential in the four pillars of the game of soccer. I was offered the Director of Recreation position with Canton Soccer Club, which is a soccer community that continues to evolve. Naturally, I was drawn to the opportunity and made the tough decision to step away from college coaching. In addition to the Director of Recreation position, I will continue coaching teams for Canton Celtic.

My primary objective as the Director of Recreation is to implement soccer educational offerings that improve players, educate parent coaches, support volunteers and referees. My predecessor built a foundation of programming for the recreational community. I will look to enhance the programming and our overall offerings. More specifically, I will seek to have a presence in our local elementary schools, expand programming to upper age groups and enhance our coaches curriculum and communication.

Livonia is my hometown and I am a Churchill Alumni. I played scholarship soccer for the first-ever Women’s Soccer team at Madonna University (MU) where I earned All-Region, All-Conference, Honorable Mention honors, St. Francis Leadership award and a Master’s of Science and Business Administration. I still hold the record at MU for most penalty kicks converted. It is also where I met Pete Alexander, the current Director of Coaching for Canton Celtic. Pete originally introduced me to youth coaching during his time at Northville Football Club, now Rush Soccer. I have a great respect for him as he was instrumental in my coaching career. While coaching soccer is my passion, I enjoy outdoor activities, mountain biking, spending time with my family and reading for pleasure. I currently live in Canton Township with my wife, Jennifer, who is a 5th grade teacher at Workman Elementary and our two Shih-Tzu dogs. We are overjoyed to become a part of an established and growing community.
