Stewards of the Game

Baseball Parents

Parents, this section of our website was developed just for you!

Here you will find all kinds of information on Stewards of the Game baseball activities. Included below are rules, field directions, schedules, rainout information, playing time philosophy, volunteer opportunities and basic fundamentals of the game. We encourage all parents to take an active role in their child's baseball experience with Stewards of the Game. As we tell our players, the more you put into it - the more you'll get out of it. We hope you will review the materials provided below as downloadable documents, and would encourage you to reinforce these principles, values, and fundamentals at home. As we develop additional tools, we will post them here for you. Have Fun!!!

IMPORTANT UPCOMING MEETING

There is a MANDATORY FAMILY MEETING on Monday, March 9th at Journey Church in Huntersville.

6:15-7:15pm
T-Ball Division (ages 4-6)
Coaches Pitch Division (ages 6-7)
Rookies Division (ages 7-8)

7:30-8:30pm
Minors Division (ages 9-10)
Majors Division (ages 11-12)
Babe Ruth 15U & 18U Divisions (ages 13-18)

At least one parent and the player should attend this meeting. At this meeting, kids will find out what team they are on and receive their practice schedules. Practices will begin the week of March 10th, and games will begin the week of March 23rd. The season should conclude no later than May 30th (weather permitting), but our goal is to be through before Memorial Day Weekend. This is for ages 4-12 (T-Ball, Rookies, Minors & Majors Divisions). Babe Ruth will not start games until likely the first week of April with a goal of finishing by early-June.

PARENTAL PLEDGE & CODE OF CONDUCT
We have reviewed the Stewards of the Game Charter and agree to uphold the Vision, Mission, Core Values and League Principles contained therein, as well as live out the PARENTAL CODE OF CONDUCT (see below).  We will do everything we can to get our child to all practices and games “on-time”…and we understand attendance at practice is a key determining factor in a coach’s discretionary decision on playing time; in addition to a player’s level of effort, respect, team play, and individual skill level.

I understand and endorse the purpose of our program: Teaching Life Lessons Through Sports to help boys become men and girls become women of empathy and integrity who will lead, be responsible, and change the world for good.

I will support the coaches by applauding behaviors in my child and teammates that demonstrate characteristics of integrity, empathy, sacrifice, and responsibility.

I will acknowledge and appreciate every player’s growth towards maturity and efforts toward establishing stronger relationships with teammates, coaches, and themselves.

I will affirm my child and teammates when good character, healthy sportsmanship, and other-centered behaviors are displayed. I will not only affirm athletic performance or a victory.

I will serve as a role model for our players talking politely and acting courteously towards coaches, officials, other parents, visiting team parents, and spectators at practices, games, and meetings.

I will model good sportsmanship. Acknowledge and applaud the efforts of team members and opponents. Accept defeat graciously by congratulating the members of the opposing team on a game well played. Support the team regardless of how much or how little my child plays or what the win-loss record is.

I will encourage my child and teammates with positive statements, even when they make mistakes. At every practice, they are growing physically and emotionally. At every practice, they are learning moral and ethical lessons. At every practice, they are developing character.

I will refrain from boasting about my child’s accomplishments.

When problems or questions arise, I will have my child present the problem to the coach. This develops self-advocacy. After meeting with their coach, if the issue requires more clarity, I will contact the coach.

Because I am a parent with the power, position, and platform to make a positive difference in the lives of all players, I commit to this code of conduct. When failing to live up to these standards, I will allow for accountability and take responsibility for my actions.
