There are two sets of standings kept that are of important.  The first is an in-season competition, whereby we compete within a division of 6 schools for a regular season "Division Championship".  The second is for the purpose of post-season State Playoff seeding.

MCPS 4A West Divisional Standings:  Montgomery County divides the 25 MCPS High Schools into 4 divisions for the purposes of facilitating regular season "Division Champions".  Records within these Divisional Standings include only those games played within your division.  The team with the best record at the end of divisional play is "Division Champion".  This is a fun competition, but does not have any bearing on State Playoff seeding.  Final standings for Fall 2017 were:

Sectional Standings Record (Important for State Playoff seeding):
The State of Maryland divides the State into 4 distinct Classes (based on size of enrollment in school), with Class 4A being the largest and the Class that Wootton is placed into.  In addition, they divide each Class into 4 Regions (East, West, North, and South), and Wootton is placed in the West Region.  Further, each Region is broken into 2 distinct Sections (Sections 1 and 2), and Wootton is placed in Section 2.  So, overall, Wootton is placed in the State Playoff bracket for "Class 4A, West Region, Section 2".

Seeding for State Playoff purposes includes results from all regular season games played through and including Saturday, October 24, 2015 (some schools will play games on October 26/27, and those results will not factor into State Playoff seeding, since the State Playoff draw is conducted during the afternoon of Monday, October 26, 2015), EXCEPT for in-season tournament games (in our case, that means that the Bowie and Leonardtown games are not reflected in our seeding record).  Since some teams play in-season tournament games and some teams do not, this provides for an equal number of games for seeding purposes in the State Playoffs.  The 1st place team in each Section is seeded #1, receives a 1st Round "bye" and will be the home team for their 2nd Round game.  All remaining teams will be seeded in the order of their "seeding record", and the team with the better record will be the home team in the 1st Round and 2nd Round games..

The first record shown is the Sectional Standings/State Playoff Seeding Record.  The second record shown includes in-season tournament results, if played.
