A lifelong player, Liam grew up near Milton Keynes, UK and learned the game within the English youth system in the academies of professional clubs Derby County FC and Luton Town FC. As an adult, Liam played at the semi-professional level for Mercedes-Benz FC and for Milton Keynes Scot FC (where he also served as the head coach). Liam's coaching career began with clubs around Milton Keynes (including at Scot Youth FC), then later within the same Derby County FC program where he’d played as a child. During his time with Derby County FC, he also got involved with Challenger Sports British Soccer which brought him to the US. In the spring of 2006 Liam assumed the role of Director of Coaching for Cheyenne Soccer Club, his last stop before joining BSC.
