8U Soccer is typically for 1st and 2nd grade children.
This program is recreational soccer for every child. The emphasis is on learning: how to play as a team, how the game is played, some basic rules, and having fun! This is not about competition and wins/loses. Coaches are instructed to give every child equal playing time, at every position on the field.
WHEN: Games are on Saturdays - Fall season begins the week after Labor Day and runs through the end of October and the Spring season begins mid-April and runs through the second week of June.
WHERE: Half the games are played at home (Karls Fields in Kiel) and half are played away in neighboring towns (New Holstein, Plymouth, Random Lake, and Waubedonia). Practices are held at Karls Fields once or twice per week.
EQUIPMENT: Children need to have shin guards, long socks that cover the shin guard, shorts or pants without pockets, and soccer cleats are recommended (gym shoe will still be allowed for play). Players should bring drinking water to all practices and games. Dri-fit t-shirt can be purchased at registration.
The club provides balls for practices and games. Ball size at this level of play is size 3.
COACHES: Coaches are volunteers and parents. Training programs are available for parents interested in coaching. See "Coaches Corner" tab for more information.
