Pre-Academy Information

The Kansas Rush Pre-Academy soccer program enables our younger ages to compete and train at a higher level with like-minded players and families.  This leads to stronger development in their technical, physical, tactical and social pillars of soccer development. We strive to provide each individual player the opportunity to play soccer in an environment that is both fun and challenging. Our professional coaching staff is trained to provide individual and team skills development for these younger ages, that is appropriate for each child's interest and ability while maintaining a positive atmosphere that is stimulating physically, mentally and socially. The Pre-Academy program is where the strong foundation begins for these future club players. We focus more on the technical aspects of soccer in these younger ages but make it fun! We strive to build not only quality and skilled soccer players but also players that play with passion, and a love for the game, that you cannot receive from the average recreational experience.

Early Development
Some kids are extremely passionate about the game and want or need more to challenge them.  Sometimes these extraordinary players don't develop the fundamental skills to carry them into their older playing ages because they lean on athletic ability alone to achieve success.  We love having the opportunity to work with these kids because our professional staff coaches know how to bring out the best in players of all abilities and skill levels.  There is no better time to have our coaches work with your kids than early on.  The Pre-Academy program is available beginning at U8 (typically 2nd grade).  Exceptional U7 (1st graders) and U6 (kindergarteners) have been known to 'play up' from time to time.  Our coaches can help you determine whether this would be an appropriate fit on a case by case basis.

Year-Round Program
All players participate in annual tryouts (June) which allow our coaching staff to place them on a team that most closely matches their current level of skill and abilities. Our goal is to find an appropriate team for every player who wants to participate in the program. Tryouts do not describe it best for Pre-Academy.  There are no cuts.  Any player wanting to participate will be included.  Unlike our recreational programs which are seasonal, when a player accepts a position on a Kansas Rush Competitive team, they are making a commitment to that team for the duration of the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons. This will be shown in their year-round soccer development and passionate style of play.

Fall and Spring Leagues
Typically, our Pre-Academy teams will play in our recreational league in the Fall (5v5) and play in Heartland (7v7) in the Spring.  The goal is also to play in a tournament in both the Fall and Spring. This will be determined by the coach.  Fall and Spring league costs are included in the Pre-Academy fees.  Tournament costs will be broken down by the number of players on the team and paid by the parents when the team registers for a tournament.

Winter Training and Leagues
Kansas Rush winter training program includes two training sessions per week and winter league play. They will have indoor training two days per week and they will participate in a winter indoor league at our new indoor facility.  The Winter league, like tournaments, is a separate cost that will be divided among the team at the time of registration.

Uniforms
The Pre-Academy Players will purchase a blue game uniform kit (jersey, shorts, and socks) and practice shorts and socks estimated at about $130.  Rush provides a training top.
