Q: How often will the girls practice?
A: Practices for spring and fall seasons are largely weather dependent. Younger girls can expect one practice per week. The older teams may try to get two practices per week in if they don’t have any games.
Q: How often are games?
A: Spring and fall seasons aim for 10-12 games in 8-10 weeks. We try to evenly spread the game out, but with local travel.

A: ALL PARENTS are required to work the snack stand in the Spring Season. If your team does not have enough coverage for you scheduled time your child’s game will become a forfeit. If everyone chips in, families should not have to work more than two (one hour) shifts in a season.
Q: Are there tryouts?
A: We have assessments for 10U, 12U, and 14U. This is strictly to draft teams with equal levels of skill and experience. No one is cut, and assessment ratings are not made public.
Q: How are girls selected for a team? Can I request a buddy?
A: At 6U and 8U, you can request a friend and we will do our best to accommodate. There is a section on the registration form for this. At the older age groups, you can request a friend, and we will do our best to accommodate at the draft. However, evenly skilled teams becomes the priority.
Q: Can my daughter request a particular coach?
A: In order to make the drafts for the 8U-14U Divisions as fair as possible, the League is not allowing Coach Requests at this time.
Q: Can I play only travel ball and not recreational ball?
A: No. Babe Ruth encourages local recreational sports. As a result, you must play in a spring recreational season at Sacred Heart to be eligible. Coaches must coach recreation ball as well.
Q: How will I know what age group to register my daughter for?
A: Please check out the Age Chart (Baseball & Softball) under 'League Information' - 'Age Charts Baseball & Softball' menu.
Q: Can I request to have my Daughter Play up or Down a Division?
A: We do not allow kids to play out of their groups. We encourage kids to be with their friends and classmates, as this is the most important aspect of children’s sports.
Q: Can my daughter play in a division higher than her age?
A: No. In the interest of fairness to all the kids playing in all divisions, we keep kids in their age bracket.
Q: What is provided in the League Uniform?
A: You will receive a dri fit jersey, pants, a belt if needed, and socks. 6U will also receive visors. We encourage the older girls to wear fielding masks, so no visors will be provided.
Q: What equipment do I need to buy?
A: Girls will need their own helmet (with face mask attached), a bat, and a glove. Older age groups wear fielding masks in the field as well. If you need assistance purchasing the right equipment or need assistance in obtaining anything, please contact your softball coordinator.
Q: What happens if we need to go on vacation?
A: Recreation sports are meant to be fun. If your family has a vacation planned in-season, simply inform your coach of the dates your daughter will be away so they can make the proper lineup adjustments.
