VIRTUS is a program that identifies best practices programs designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote "rightdoing" within religious organizations. The VIRTUS programs empower organizations and people to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with the Church. 

As a Sacred Heart CYO League Rule, any parent or guardian that will be in the dugout during the season for any purpose must have completed VIRTUS Training along with fingerprinting for a background check.  This goes for Coaches and Team Parents if you want to be in the dugout area.  If you have not completed these 2 requirements, by league rule you are not allowed in the dugout area during games and practices.  You only need to complete the VIRTUS training once, but fingerprints need to be completed every 3 years.  Below are the scheduled VIRTUS Training dates at Sacred Heart.  If you are a new coach this season please try and attend one of these sessions, if you cannot make the sessions below please email the league and we can let you know of classes that may be in the surrounding area.  Information for fingerprinting is located in the documents section.  All new coaches will need to provide the league with a certificate of completion from the VIRTUS class that they attended in order to be allowed to coach for the season.

Here is the information you need as a new volunteer:
To sign up for a Virtus account, you would need to go to VIRTUS® Online (virtusonline.org) and choose "First Time Registrant" at the left of the screen.

Follow the steps and enter "Trenton, NJ Diocese" when it asks you to select the Diocese at the dropdown menu.
In the next dropdown menu, you choose Sacred Heart, Mount Holly. If you want to take the training in person, you can choose the date and location of the training in the portal.  If you would prefer to take the training virtually, you would need to email me your username.  Once I have the username, we submit that to the Diocese, and then they will email you a link so you can take the virtual Virtus training, which would take about 3 hours.  Thankfully, it is flexible, and you can view it in smaller increments so you don't have to do the whole training all in one sitting.

You can also make your background check appointment through the site. For the background check, you need to apply as a volunteer, Contributor’s Case number is TRE050 and the service code is 2F1J3Y.
