IN ORDER TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF OUR CLUB MEMBERS, DURING SEVERE WEATHER THREATS WE WILL USE THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES:
From Lightning:
- We will not start and will suspend all on field activities when a Thunderstorm or Tornado Warning has been issued for the area surrounding our fields.
- We will not start or continue any on field activities if we see lightning or are notified of threats to the area surrounding our fields.
- If we have suspended activities, we will not re-start for a minimum of 20 minutes from the last sign of lighting or thunder.
If The Kansas Rush staff suspends activities due to thunderstorm related concerns, all fields must be cleared until the all clear is given. Seek shelter in your vehicle.
From Extreme Temperatures:
Heat Guidelines
- 94 and below (heat index) . All team activities on as scheduled.
- 95-105 degrees (heat index): Training sessions to be altered/limited. More frequent water/cooling breaks (every 15-20 minutes).
- 106+ degrees (heat index): No activities will start or continue.
Cold Guidelines
· We will not conduct any outdoor activities when the temperature and wind speed create a wind chill temperature at or below 24°F.
For all guidelines we will use the government national weather service - http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=38.881397549000496&lon=-94.81912951399966#.V6OgFLgrKUk.
To Preserve the Integrity of Our Fields:
- We may suspend outdoor activities on the fields at the Lone Elm Soccer Complex when it is raining hard.
- We will not start any outdoor activities when the fields are very wet (even after rain has stopped).
- Kansas Rush and the City of Olathe evaluate field conditions after heavy or prolonged periods of rain. If fields are deemed too be to wet, we will communicate these details through normal channels.
