- Club SyrV Mission Satement
Club SyrV (pronounced “serve”) has a mission to provide a place for elite volleyball athletes from Central New York to develop their talent and compete at the highest level possible, while preparing to play at the collegiate, national and international levels. Club director, Kathy Patton Gedney and club coordinator, Karl Caputo, founded Club SyrV in 2009. In it's first 12 seasons, Club SyrV has grown to include as many as 22 teams with players from over 35 different school districts. NEW for the 2021-2022 season, we are hosting several PREMIERE and Elite girl's teams, including 18U Elite, 17U Premiere, 17U Elite, 16U Premier, 16U Elite, 15U Premier, 15U Elite, and 14U Elite. We will also offer a TNT (training and tournaments) program that will give athletes of all skill levels an opportunity to continue to grow in their volleyball attributes and compete. Our Youth Program for boys and girls 12 and under will give kids the fundamental skills needed and teach them to love this awesome sport. Our coaching staff continues to be made up of the most passionate and knowledgeable coaches in Central New York, most of whom have competed at the collegiate level and some who have competed at the professional level.
What's new?
- Partnering with MACC - Midstate Athletic Community Center and Shining Stars Daycare in Manlius gives us a great opportunity to have access to plenty of gym time and not get canceled due to school events or last minute school game rescheduling.
- Most teams will have a Sunday practice. This is especially convenient for players involved with "in season" high school sports in the winter and spring.
- We have enhanced our teams and coaches (again!) to offer the best volleyball experience in CNY to even more players and parents. Our training and tournament schedule will reflect our commitment to taking Club SyrV athletes to the NEXT level!
- Coaches using Google calendar will include the focus/objectives for each practice so parents can ask their son or daughter what was learned at practice today and get a response more detailed than, "Nothing."
- Most Club SyrV coaches are now 1st aid and CPR certified in addition to being IMPACT certified. ALL are SafeSport certified!

We have the best coaches, top to bottom, in Central New York - Almost all of our coaches have played at the collegiate level or beyond. They know what it takes to take players to the next level. A consistent philosophy for all of our teams, players, and coaches - Practices and tournaments are competitive and positive. Expectations are consistently high for all players and coaches. Club SyrV volleyball teams are known for being aggressive, loud and fun!
Steady, consistent growth - Due to consistently positive experiences, Club SyrV has been able to add at least one team every year of its existence (with the exception of the dreaded Covid year) This will be our 13th season and we plan to keep growing.
Open tryouts - There is no preferential treatment for players based on who they know or where they attend school. The best players make our teams every year, no questions asked. This policy has lead to the success and growth of Club SyrV. As evidence, athletes from over 35 different school districts have played for Club SyrV in our first 12 seasons and Club SyrV finished in the top 3 at Regionals in EVERY age division. Two practices weekly plus potential bonus practices - After tryouts, at the conclusion of the high school season, all of our PREMIERE and Elite teams will practice twice per week throughout the season. If available, coaches from various Club SyrV teams will take turns helping players from all Club SyrV teams at some position specific practices. The season will conclude at the beginning of May at the Regional Championships. PREMIERE and Elite teams will extend their season to attend Nationals or other National level tournaments.
Sweet uniforms - Club SyrV players sport the highest quality and best looking uniforms around. Bottom line, we play hard and we look good at the same time, all the time.
Yearly surveys - We ask for anonymous feedback from all parents and players at the conclusion of each season. This allows us to ensure the best club experience in Central New York.
Super Cool Website and Credit Card Payments - Our website makes it easy and convenient to find out the latest information. Our partership with TeamSnap allows parents to pay registration fees with Visa or MasterCard. It is also easier than ever to to stay on top of what's new with Club SyrV.
