Coventry Little League has come a long way since its inaugural year in 1966. Over the years we have grown with the community, with deep ties to all of the Owen J Roberts School District, through the years our program has grown and evolved, but our commitment to the Little League philosophy remains: Little League is a program of service to youth. It is geared to provide an outlet of healthful activity and training under good leadership in the atmosphere of wholesome community participation. The movement is dedicated to helping children become good and decent citizens. It inspires them with a goal and enriches their lives towards the day when they must take their places in the world. It establishes the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play.
Coventry Little League firmly believes that each child who wishes to play baseball or softball should be entitled to do so regardless of skill, gender, or financial circumstances. Our league will not deny any child a chance to play baseball or softball due to a financial hardship. Please contact us should you need assistance.
Coventry Little League announced the formation of our Challenger Division in 2018. The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with special needs, ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. Today, more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide. Since CLL is not operating a Sr. Challenger Division the above league age limit of 22 with school enrollment will be applied for any player over the age of 18. Please contact us if your child/ren are over 18 years of age and are interested in playing Challenger Baseball. We will work with you to have them registered.

Training Baseball (Machine Pitch) is for kids ages 6-7 and is still instructional based where coaches are in the field teaching during games. The Machine Pitch division focuses on the fundamentals of hitting a ball at a faster and more consistent speed. At this division, the game is played on a slightly larger field. Coaches feed the balls through a pitching machine that provides the kids with a consistent, straight pitch between 38-40 miles per hour. Not to worry, however! Kids typically do just fine at that speed after they've had a bit of practice! At this division, you truly start to experience a true game of baseball as kids begin to have a grasp of the rules and their strengths and skills are being honed. The players will learn to work together in this division and depend on one another to make plays.
Minors Baseball (Player Pitch) is for kids age 8-9. Players are evaluated before the season to determine the best division for their development level. The aim is for young players to learn to hit a pitched baseball, but not be intimidated by older, stronger pitchers and players. In the Minors division, players' skills are developing rapidly as arm strength increases, pitching improves, and overall hand-eye coordination is maturing. Teams in the division begin to operate as a cohesive unit. Coaches continue to emphasize fundamentals of the game while emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork. The field is set at traditional Little League dimensions of 46 feet pitching distance and 60 feet base paths.
Majors Baseball is for kids that are age 10-12. All players are evaluated before the season to determine the best division for their development level. This will be largely made up of 10 and 11 year olds with a few 12 year olds. The aim here is to have a competitive middle aged division of players that promotes stronger pitching and a higher level of baseball knowledge and execution. Players' skills are continuing to develop into cohesive members of a team. Their arm strength increases, pitching accuracy improves, and overall hand-eye coordination matures. Coaches teach advanced fundamentals of the game while emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork. The field is set at traditional Little League dimensions of 46 feet pitching distance and 60 feet base paths.
We encourage experienced 11 and 12 year olds to register for or opt to "play up" to Intermediate division (this must be indicated during the registration process).
Intermediate Baseball - 50/70 Division will be geared towards advanced players in a competitive structure which includes League Age 11 to 13 year olds that have played baseball for several years with a good understanding of the game, and/or also have a desire to learn the next level of baseball. All games are played on fields with 50 feet pitching distance and 70 feet base paths. Players that are age 11-12 that wish to play Intermediate must indicate this in their registration and are evaluated before the season to determine the best division for their development level. League Age 13 year olds are required to play in this division per LL rules.
- This division is limited to 4 teams (44 players). All players must be drafted onto the Intermediate teams.
- Any 11 or 12 year old that is not drafted to Intermediate due to space limitations will then play in the Major Baseball division.
