The US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Premier League (SRPL) provides an opportunity for the most competitive teams in Region III (South) to play each other on a scheduled basis. The league will be comprised of boys and girls in the age groups of Under-14 through Under-18.
Each State Association decides what will be the criteria for selecting teams to be considered for inclusion in the upcoming Southern Regional Premier League season. Typically the prior year’s Premier League champion in an age group, the state cup finalist(s) or the champion of an in-state league are potential candidates. Each State Association is invited to present at least two (2) teams in each age group/gender. Games are scheduled in the fall or the spring, depending on local customs in a sub-region or state.
The intent of the Southern Regional Premier League is to furnish the top teams in the Region the opportunity to play the most competitive schedule for as little cost as possible. We fully understand the cost to play this game and believe that the more money that stays at the local club or association the better opportunities each child will have to develop their playing abilities with club coaches at club facilities.

UFA ODP Players - Past and Present

The Olympic Development Program (ODP)was created by US Soccer around 25 years ago for two purposes:
1) To identify national team players early, at the youth level.
2) To provide development opportunities for these potential national team players.
To this day, these two core purposes, namely, IDENTIFY and DEVELOP for the national team, have not changed. However, many players have also come to associate ODP with improved opportunities for playing college soccer and getting college scholarships. This is because many college coaches work on ODP staff at the state, regional, and national levels and also most college coaches scout players at ODP events. College coaches consider a player’s participation in ODP as an indicator of talent and soccer ambition.
In most ages, the tryout process in Georgia starts with Preliminary Tryouts in September, followed immediately by the State Tryouts in September or October. Some of the older age groups do not have Preliminary Tryouts due to the smaller number of players involved. In those instances, all the players go directly to the State Tryouts. The Preliminary Tryouts are open for all age-eligible players. Those who do well in the Preliminary Tryouts are invited to the State Tryouts and are joined there by the players who were in the State Pools in the previous year. Typically, between 50 to 80 players are involved in a State Tryout, depending on the age group. At the State Tryouts, a State Pool of 30-40 players is selected (the younger ages tend to have bigger pools than the older ages).
All Coaches, Administrators and Chaperones that are selected to participate in the ODP program must undergo a mandatory online background check. In order for Georgia Soccer to process this check, all coaches, administrators and chaperones must submit a registration profile to the program.

Georgia United Soccer Alliance (GUSA)is very excited to announce that our organization has been given the opportunity to compete in the United States Soccer Development Academy (DA) league.
GUSA is an alliance of four metro Atlanta clubs who have joined together to share resources that will allow them to provide a high level training environment and excellent competition at the GUSA organization’s expense for the best players in the state of Georgia. North Atlanta Soccer Association (NASA), Norcross Soccer Academy (NSA), United Futbol Academy (United FA) and AFC Lightning make up GUSA.
“The concept behind GUSA is to bring the best players from clubs to play together and represent Atlanta in the DA. There is only one other DA club in Atlanta and we felt that there were enough quality players in the city for another franchise and started kicking around the idea of an alliance two years ago. We felt that with the right structure, we could provide a great training environment and put really competitive teams on the field,” said Dave Smith Director of NASA.
“I am very excited to be offered the opportunity for players from all the clubs to play in the league and feel that it will improve the game and everyone involved. The great thing about GUSA is that we have set it up to be fully funded so that the best players will be able to play at the highest level regardless of financial ability,” commented Tony Annan, NSA Executive Director.
Try outs for GUSA teams will be held in late June after the Development Academy (DA) Season has wrapped up and players from any organization are invited to attend. More information on GUSA can be found at www.GAUnitedsoccer.com.

The National Premier League (NPL)was created to elevate and change the competitive youth soccer landscape by extending developmental principles espoused by U.S. Soccer into more age groups and clubs, by linking competition with player development and identification platforms, and by providing meaningful weekly competition culminating in the NPL Finals.
NPLs are independent leagues, unified under one national competition platform, and based on a common technical framework designed to improve long-term player development. The NPL provides a platform:
- focused on long-term player development;
- for the country’s top soccer clubs, allowing consistent, meaningful high-level games appropriately scheduled with higher training-to-game ratios;
- that allows players to be scouted and evaluated by U.S. Soccer National Staff and Technical Advisors;
- that is designed and structured by the clubs, based on the needs of the clubs; and
- that provides an avenue for qualification for the NPL Finals.
