Advanced Hoops started in 2001 by Charlie Fortney with the goal of revolutionizing  the culture of training in the South Central PA region.  Charlie saw organizations like Mid Penn Motion, Susquehanna Cagers, Central PA Ballers and many others involved in AAU, but the need for Training in Shooting, Ball-handling, and Skills seemed like a much needed focus.  After seven years of training over 500 kids with Advanced Hoops, Charlie was getting feedback from parents and players all over the area that AAU regionally was very inconsistent and lacking a comprehensive strategy to develop players. 

Up until 2007 and 2008 Advanced Hoops was training players that participated in the other area AAU programs.  After the strong feedback Charlie received, he felt he needed to build a comprehensive AAU basketball program that parents and area coaches could count on, that have the right focus of training, man to man emphasis and playing time guidelines.  Since the start Advanced Hoops quickly grew stronger and more effective than other south central PA AAU programs with over 30 teams and strong consistency in Showcase Boys and Girls High School basketball, today known as the Team PA Boys and Girls Showcase program. 

Advanced Hoops is the only program with a College Recruiting Assistance Program in place that helps players and parents every step in the process.  This system is very unique and effective and has placed more players in college basketball uniforms in the last five years at a faster rate than any other program in South Central PA.  Advanced Hoops run a college showcase every fall that helps players from all over get recruited.

Charlie has always believed that AAU has gotten a bad reputation in many ways because of the wrong focus it can have some times and the lack of focus on skills and helping kids with college choices, but when done the right way it can help players dreams become a reality.  Advanced Hoops is excited to continue this trend toward helping so many players and remains the only one-stop-shop program in South Central PA that combines AAU, free college recruiting assistance and professional training available to all it’s players
