Charlie Fortney

 


Charlie Fortney is in his 14 year as Program Director of Advanced Hoops. Charlie is an expert at teaching shooting & Offensive Footwork to players of all ages. He understands every phase of development with shooting & understands what college coaches are looking for when it pertains to the shooting release point.Charlie’s knowledge of the recruiting process and reputation with College Coaches of every level has helped players all over the Harrisburg Region receive scholarships to play at the next level. Every player who is a part of the Advanced Hoops Showcase Program receives assistance from Charlie and the Program in the recruiting process!

Playing Career

High School
  • Led Steel-High to first ever Mid-Penn championship in 1989
  • Street & Smith Honorable Mention All-American as a sophomore (1987)
  • Scored 1,414 points at Steel-High & graduated in 1989
  • News 27 Central Pennsylvania Player of the Year (1989)
  • 2 time Big 15 and top underclassmen selection (1987-1989)
Prep School
  • Selected to the top 40 prep school players in the country in 1990
  • Played on the #1 prep school in the country at Fork Union, VA (1990)
College
  • Full Scholarship to University of North Carolina at Greensboro
  • Single game scoring record in a Win - 36 points vs. Navy in 1992
  • Game winning shots against Campbell, William & Mary and Austin Peay
  • 2nd leading scorer as a Freshmen in 1991
Professional
  • Played for the CBA's (NBA's developmental league) Harrisburg Hammerheads in 1994-1995
  • Played in the EBA from 1997-1999
  • 3 time EBA All-Star
  • 2nd leading scorer (28.5ppg) in EBA in 1997
  • EBA 3 pt. shooting champion (1997)
  • Single season EBA scoring record - 43 points vs. York Cyclones
  • EBA record 10 pointers in single game vs. York Cyclones (1997)
  • Player personal director and All-Star for the Harrisburg Horizon in 1998 & 1999
Coaching Career
  • Summer Camps director for 14 years & Director of Philadelphia Sixers camp in Lancaster 2003
  • Head Coach at Harrisburg Christian from 1998 - 2002 (71-32 overall record)
  • Led Harrisburg Christian to # 9 state ranking in 2001
  • CCAC League Champions in 2001 & 2002
  • Top Assistant at Central Dauphin in 2003
  • Director of Advanced Training Programs since 2003
