Team Building Philosophy-
Teams will be limited to 10 players (some teams possibly 11)
Players will be placed on appropriate teams that fit their competitive needs according to the assessment made at the tryouts
Choice of Tournaments will be based on competitive needs (Tournaments selected by Coaches & Advanced Hoops Staff)
1/3 playing time guarantee (MUST SHOW UP FOR PRACTICE OR PLAYING TIME WILL SUFFER!)
Heavy focus on skill development in practices in hopes of seeing it translate into game situations

Playing Philosophy-
Defense-Man to Man is taught to make players better defenders both on and off the ball. We feel that Zone has little value in the off-season and can often hurt players that do it all the time in AAU. It can teach players to stand around and become extremely lazy defensively, therefore we will primarily be playing a solid fundamentally sound brand of Man to Man defense.

Offense-Emphasis on Motion Principles so players can learn to make decisions. Running plays are okay, but teaching players to make good decisions is better for development. Plays and different entries are good to assist players in getting scoring opportunities after movement is established. 

 

Tournaments- Tournaments will be used to allow players to develop their game. Winning will be a by-product of doing things the right way. Going to regional tournaments and AAU advancement tournaments are at the discretion of the parents and coaches involved, but not necessary as long as teams are getting good competition to prepare for school ball. Emphasis is put on scheduling tournaments that are within reasonable driving distance to avoid unnecessary expenses when at all possible. Showcase Teams will be the exception to this rule as players at that level will need to travel to the Tournaments where College Coaches are attending.
