Summer Baseball

Dear TYBA Community:

We are excited to announce that we are now forming teams for summer baseball for kids 7 - 12. We are looking to form either a Summer Tournament Team or Summer League Team for each age group based on interest.  Summer baseball is a great opportunity for your child to grow as a player and play baseball with their friends during the summer months.

Try-outs are beginning this weekend!  Schedule is below.   Pre-registration on the TYBA website is required to attend try-outs.

Tryout Schedule:

  • 9's & 10's: Sunday May 6th, 1PM - 2PM, Wicasse 1
  • 7's & 8's: Sunday May 6th, 2PM - 3PM, Wicasse 1
  • 11's: Sunday May6th, 6PM - 7:30PM, Wicasse 1
  • 12's: Friday, May 11, Thursday May 17, Sunday May 20th, and Sunday May 27th.  All from 5:30PM to 7PM, Bridgemeadow

If you can't make the above try-outs, please register anyways and additional group or private try-outs can be scheduled if needed.

As a reminder, here are the differences between tournament teams and league teams:

  • Summer Tournament teams will play in the District tournament, and other tournaments, throughout late June and July. The level of play on these teams is competitive and tryouts are required to earn a spot on the roster.  Roster spots on these teams are limited and not everyone who tries out will make the team. Players that tryout and do not make a tournament team can still play on a league team. For those players who do make a tournament team, playing time is not guaranteed.
  • Summer League teams will not play in the District tournament. These teams will be focused on extending recreational-style baseball through late June and July. The focus of these teams will be to continue to develop skills and confidence in players while they get to experience the fun of traveling and playing against other towns. There are no tryouts for these teams. Players are guaranteed a spot and we will carry larger rosters or multiple teams if needed. Playing time will be more evenly spread across all players and there will be a continuous batting order.

Formation of these teams depends solely on interest of the players. If we do not receive enough interest a team may not be formed. So please register today at www.tyngsboroyouthbaseball.org

The registration fee, once accepted to a team, will  be $40 to cover field maintenance, insurance and baseballs. There is no cost to register for the tryouts and you pay once accepted onto a team. Once the team is formed, the coaches will decide which tournaments and number of games will be played.  Based on that, your coach will collect money for uniforms and umpire fees.
