LIL’ ANGELS ATHLETICS
ESTABLISHED 2013
Director: Rusty Kinney
Assistant Director: Darlene Tierney
Lil’ Angels Athletics is a program offered by GA Athletic Boosters to boys and girls in grades K-2. The children will be placed in “teams” with 2 parent volunteers per “team” based on grade level. The program will expose the children to several sports with basketball and volleyball being the main emphasis of the program. Each “season” will be 8 sessions starting after the Thanksgiving Break and ending in February; school calendar/gym availability will determine the exact dates. A general guideline is that the parent volunteers expose the children to the sports offered to children by GA Boosters beginning in 3rd grade (basketball, volleyball, and track/field). The program takes place on GA property outside and/or in the gym. A small fee $25 is charged to each participant. Each parent volunteer must beVIRTUS trained, with a background check completed and up to date on Virtus bulletins as required by the Parish and Archdiocese.
These are the goals of the program:
1. To offer children in grades K, 1 & 2 the opportunity to interact with their friends in an extracurricular environment.
2. To introduce different sports to the children in a casual atmosphere and gain interest for the GCCYS (Greater Cincinnati Catholic Youth Sports) programs offered beginning in 3rd grade.
3. To expand the mission of the GA Boosters which is to:
A) Demonstrate the Spirit of Catholic Youth Athletics of good sportsmanship, patience, manners, and an attitude indicative of the spirit and mission of Guardian Angels School and Parish and the Catholic Church.
B) Offer programs that will provide all students with a positive athletic experience, while teaching the fundamentals of the chosen sport.
C) Provide a wide variety of sports opportunities to grades K-8 and every child in the school/parish has the opportunity to participate on a competitive team.
