Frequently Asked Questions

HLLA FAQs

Q: How old does my child need to be to start  playing Tball?

A: League age 4.- Boys and Girls must turn 4 by August 31, 2024

Q: At what age does my child “age out” of little league?

A: Children may play little league through league age 16.

Q: What is "league age"?

A: As set by Little League International, all baseball divisions as well as Tball, Sandlot and Challenger, league age is how old your child will be on or before August 31 of the current year. For softball, league age is determined by the player's age as of December 31 of the previous year.

Q: Where are games played?

A: Purcell Park - fields 1, 2 and 3.

  • Field 1 - Monument Ave.

  • Fields 2 and 3 - Miller Cir. (behind Funky’s Skate Center)

Q: When does the season start?

A: We typically host our Opening Day event around the first week of April. This is where all league players are announced, run around the bases and have the opportunity to high five local mascots and fellow ball players. Following this celebration, the first games of the season are played by all teams except Tball and Sandlot. Tball and Sandlot teams normally start playing two weeks later.

Q: What equipment does my child need to start playing?

A: Since HLLA supplies uniforms, league bats, helmets and balls one would essentially only need to provide a glove to start playing. Our Pitch In initiative is a great resource for those who need assistance in obtaining gently used baseball and softball equipment.

Q: What is the HLLA Pitch In program?

A: For information about our Pitch In program click here.

Q: What elements of the uniform does HLLA provide?

A: For baseball players, we supply a locally sponsored jersey, hat and socks. Softball players are given the jersey, pants and socks. Tball and Sandlot players receive their jersey and a hat (for boys) or visor (for girls).

Q: Do you offer a fall season?

A: As of 2022 we started offering a fall ball season for minor and major baseball, minor and major softball as well as providing the same opportunity for our challenger league.

Q: What is Challenger league?

A: The Little League Challenger program allows individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities to enjoy the full benefits of Little League participation in an athletic environment structured to their abilities. Volunteers, we call "buddies", assist the players on the field during their game to help ensure a positive atmosphere.
