Field Rehab

Rehab of Upper Essroc Field

Nazareth Soccer Club was the recipient of a 2019 Development Grant from Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer (EPYS).  We also received a donation from Lehigh Hanson, Inc.  The money was used to help fund the rehab of the Upper Essroc soccer field which cost more than $15,000.

The Upper Essroc field surface had degraded over the years, and as our primary 7v7 field, we needed to regrade and renovate it.  The field had many low areas where water pooled, making it unplayable in wet conditions.  It was decided by our contractor to do the following:

  • Roto-till existing grass & weeds, incorporating vegetation into the soil profile.  Remove rocks, stones, and other debris.

  • Add approximately 200 cubic yards of topsoil over the field.

  • Grade field areas to allow for proper drainage.

  • Apply granular limestone and starter fertilizer and a 3-Way Sports Turf seed mix. Straw and tackifiers were placed to enhance seed germination and eliminate erosion.

The work above was done in the late summer and early fall of 2019.  The field remained closed for 12 months to allow the grass adequate time to root and grow.  It is now available for use by our young players during the Fall 2020 season.
