Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to play?

Boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 15 who reside in Hamilton Twp., NJ.   New registrations from non-Hamilton residents will not be accepted.  Proof of residency will be required.

W
hat is the cutoff date to determine age?

For the 2021-2022 season, it is August 31, 2021. That means your child's age on August 31, 2021 is their "league age" for the entire season.  This is the age used to determine which division they are eligible to play in.

Are there residency restrictions?

All new registrants need to be a resident of Hamilton Twp.  We are no longer accepting new registrations from residents outside of Hamilton Twp.  Proof of residency will be required for all new registrations. Any non-Hamilton registrations that are received will be refunded immediately minus a $20 processing fee.

When does registration open?

Registration for the upcoming season will open on Saturday, August 28 at 8:00 am.  All registrations must be completed online on the league website.  There will be no in-person or mail in registrations.  Registration will remain open until Saturday, September 25 or until we reach the maximum number of players we are able to accommodate this season. Once registration closes, we will continue to accept names on the Wait List.

Unfortunately, we will still be operating under Covid-19 restrictions this season.  You are strongly encouraged to read through our Program Preparedness Plan prior to registering and be sure you are comfortable following the plan.  There will be no exceptions to the plan for any reason.

The Covid-19 situation is constantly changing and it is entirely possible that our Program Preparedness Plan will change throughout the season.  While the hope is certainly that the restrictions are eased, it could go the other way and additional restrictions could be imposed.

What are the registration fees?

These are subject to change prior to registration opening for the 2021-2022 season.

Instructional Division - $90

Cadets Division - $140

Jr Lads Division -  $140

Lads Division -  $140

Do you offer any discounts?

We have a Family Discount.  Take $20 off for every additional player being registered from the same family.  Ex. 1st player per family – regular registration fee, 2nd player per family - save $20, 3rd player per family – save $40, and so on.

What are the expectations for participating in fund-raisers?

Once again, for the 2021-2022 season, there will be NO MANDATORY FUNDRAISERS.

What is the refund policy?

Full Registration Fee refunds are offered prior to players being assigned to a team.  Once a player is placed on a team, no refunds will be given.  Service fees are always non-refundable.  Non-Hamilton residents who register will have their fee refunded immediately minus service fees and a 20% processing fee.

In the event that the season is cancelled due to Covid-19, refunds will be given as per the table found here.

How does the Wait List work?

Due to limited available gym time, we are only able to accommodate a certain number of players and teams.  Our minimum play rules do not allow us to have more than 10 players per team.  Once we reach our limit, we start building a Wait List.

When a player drops from the league for any reason, we replace that player with a player on the Wait List of a similar age.  Generally, players are activated from the Wait List in the order they were added to the list.  Players are less likely to be replaced as we get later into the season.  In all cases, it is at the discretion of the league as to who will be activated.

When are tryouts?

Tryouts are scheduled for Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Crockett Middle School.  Times have been emailed to each player and are posted under Tryouts Schedule.

Who needs to attend tryouts?

All players, except for the Instructional Division, need to attend tryouts.  Players on the Wait List do not tryout.

We understand that many players are participating in other activities, but we ask that you make every effort to attend tryouts.  All players will be placed on a team whether they are at tryouts or not, but players not attending is our biggest obstacle in keeping our teams competitively balanced.

What should I expect at tryouts?

"Tryouts" is probably not the best word.  They are evaluations.  Players are evaluated to get an idea of their skill level.  This helps us balance teams as best as possible.

Each player's tryout will only take a few minutes.  They will take a few layups, along with short jumpers, foul shot, and three pointer (older players).

Are all players placed on a team?

All players who are registered prior to registration closing will be placed on a team.  Once we reach the maximum number of players we can accommodate, or the registration cut off date, players will be placed on a Wait List.

Do you accept requests for players to be on the same team?

We do not accept special requests.  Siblings will be placed on the same team if they fall into the same division.

When do practices begin?

Practices begin mid-October. 2021.  They are held on weeknights once a week at the same time and location.  Day, time, and location is dependent on the team.
