Will there be online registration this year?
Yes, returning players AND new players to our league will ALL register online. Registration announcements will be made at our schools, in the community and on this website. Our online registration vendor is called Sports Connect and you can access registration from our website once registration is open.
When does the season start?
We play from the start of May until the end of June. Seasons are typically 8 weeks long. Practices will be either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday and either at 5-6pm or 6-7pm for the first three weeks. We try to let the coaches pick their day and time (this happens once teams are formed in April) but we cannot always guarantee they will get the days they requested. Games will be two days a week for each team Monday-Thursday for the remainder of the season from 6-7:15pm.
Does STBA provide financial assistance to families that cannot afford registration?
Sandwich T-Ball Association is ready and willing to help any family in financial need. No child will be denied entry to our league due to financial hardship. Please send an email to our league President, and he will contact you to arrange financial assistance. Any communication with the league President on this subject will be in the strictest of confidence.
I want my child to be placed on a team with a friend. Can I make that request?
We try very hard to accommodate all requests, but sometimes we cannot make all requests work out due to limited teams and team sizes. We hope that you will understand.
What equipment do I need to have for T-Ball?
All uniforms are provided by STBA. This includes a hat and a team shirt. Each player needs to have their own glove and should have gym shoes. Cleats are not required but if you wish to purchase them they should be rubber cleats and not metal. Bats are provided by STBA. Batting helmets must be worn by all players in the T-Ball and Coach Pitch Division, the STBA does NOT provide helmets due to sanitary reasons.
Why do I need to pay a $100 volunteer fee?
We want to offer a clear explanation as to why our association has chosen to implement the fee.
Each season our program services around 160 kids across 16 teams and our volunteer board currently consists of 5 people, as we have open board spots. To maintain the program and keep it running like it has for the past 40 years, we need parents to volunteer two hours each season in the different roles we have available. In recent years we have noticed that parental involvement has been on the decline even though the program still needs the support of the parents to be successful. By having the REFUNDABLE fee in place, parents now have a vested interest in helping to support the association through volunteering. If we do collect the fee at the end of the season, those funds are then used to offset the cost of the lost volunteer hours. We ultimately want to refund each volunteer fee at the end of the season because for us to pay for outside help will cost double that of the volunteer fee. We understand that all of our lives have become busier over the years and the Sandwich T-Ball Board is more than willing to be creative with volunteer opportunities. All we need is for you to reach out to us.
Please also take note that we will not release players hat or team shirt until $100 volunteer fee has been turned in.
How do team pictures work?
Every year we arrange for team pictures to be taken at our fields. (If the weather is good, we take them at the main field; in case of rain, we go inside Prairie View Elementary School). Coaches will inform their team of the date and time for their teams pictures. Please have your player to the fields at least 10-15 minutes before their teams time slot in their team shirt and hat. Photos are taken by PMI photography, at this time they only allow online ordering. Any further information will be emailed out to all families.
Does the league offer sponsorship opportunities?
Yes. The STBA counts on businesses to support the league through sponsorship of teams and signs, which hang at the park. We ask that all families consider sponsorship. If you run a business or know someone who does, please ask them if they are interested in sponsoring. Families also can buy a sign with a special message on it.
