Volunteers are what make a youth sports program go round. They are the administrators, concession staff, coaches and officials who are responsible for teaching a dozen young athletes how to play baseball, football, soccer, hockey or any other youth sport. They are also the ones that shape the overall experience for your youth athletes, shaping their opinions towards the sport in general.


One of the most frequently asked questions we receive from parents is "Why do I need to pay a $100 volunteer fee?". We want to offer a clear explanation as to why our association has chosen to implement the fee.


Each season our program services up to 160 kids across 16 teams and our volunteer board currently consists of 4 people, as we have open board spots. To maintain the program and keep it running like it has for the past 40 years, we need parents to volunteer a few hours each season in the different roles we have available. In recent years we have noticed that parental involvement has been on the decline even though the program still needs the support of the parents to be successful. By having the REFUNDABLE fee in place, parents now have a vested interest in helping to support the association through volunteering. If we do collect the fee at the end of the season, those funds are then used to offset the cost of the lost volunteer hours. We ultimately want to refund each volunteer fee at the end of the season because for us to pay for outside help will cost double that of the volunteer fee. We understand that all of our lives have become busier over the years and the Sandwich T-Ball Board is more than willing to be creative with volunteer opportunities. All we need is for you to reach out to us.

The volunteer fee is $100 for the 2024 season.  As you have heard many times, your time is very valuable to STBA so we would much rather have you volunteer than have you turn over your money. Regardless of which route you choose, all volunteer checks will be processed at the end of each season. Or your volunteer check will be destroyed once you have satisfied your volunteer time requirement.

After checks have been cashed if you feel you are still due a refund a request must be made in writing to [email protected] before July 31, 2024. After July 31, 2024 all volunteer fees collected will be considered final and we will not process any further refunds for the most recent season.

The Volunteer Fee is per Family. Also the amount of times you need to Volunteer will be per family. For example if you register two children your total volunteer fee will be $100 and would only need to volunteer two hours of service.

Since registration is now being completed on-line you have four options to deliver your volunteer fee. 
1.    Drop off during an assisted registration session (dates to be announced).
2.    Mail your check to Sandwich T-Ball Association, PO Box 11, Sandwich, IL 60548.  
3.    Email us and make arrangements [email protected] 

Please note your child will not be allowed to participate in the regular season until your volunteer fee has been received.
