PGSA Academy (U-8 to U-10) – Fall 2022/Spring 2023
As part of the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA), the PGSA has implemented a structure (in 2008) to develop players on the competitive, travel soccer side. It will also allow the PGSA to encourage individual player development and team achievement in a broad context from U-8 to U-10.
The PGSA Academy is designed to advance young soccer players by stressing player development versus results. It is the goal of to PGSA advance young players within the proper framework, at this age, as opposed to demanding that teams simply win. If the PGSA focuses on the individual performance of the player – then player development and team progress will be a result of our efforts.
The PGSA soccer curriculum is designed specifically for youth players; therefore, your sons and daughters will be assured a proper, age-specific learning environment in a fun setting. PGSA has found that when young players improve their technical ability they mature in confidence and give themselves a greater capacity to process information, which is vital in the growth of young soccer players as the advanced to the older age groups.
In general, NCYSA Academy soccer provides engaged players the opportunity to develop at a higher level of play and to play against teams from around the region (Goldsboro, Jacksonville, New Bern, Raleigh, Rocky Mount and Wilson). As a result, playing NCYSA Academy soccer involves a greater practice expectations and responsibility than participating in local recreational. Consider your decision to become involved in travel soccer very seriously.
