TOP SEVEN
1. Which team will my son or daughter represent?
Your player’s coach will contact you by either phone or email after April 14th.
2. Who will be the team’s coach?
During registration, TAYSA asks each player’s parent or guardian if they would like to volunteer. Out of this pool of candidates, TAYSA selects coaches who submit a CORI form, earn a “G” license from MYSA, and earn a Concussion Awareness certificate from the CDC. If you would like to volunteer, please contact TAYSA’s In-Town Director.

4. Do teams practice?
For age groups U5 and U6, there are no practices during the week.
With age groups U7 and U9, teams practice one night a week.
5. Are the rules modified from 11 v 11?
TAYSA’s In-Town program aligns with the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association principals for developing soccer players. Team rosters are small, the number of players is reduced, as well as the field space to increase the number of touches to the soccer ball and provide more individualized coaching instruction. Training is age-appropriate with the greatest focus on technical skills rather than tactical. Team strategy and tactical skills for specific positions are introduced in U12 and instructed in U14 Travel divisions.

TAYSA’s U5-U6 recreational program is the first phase of our long-term development model for our youth soccer players. Players will develop a love of the game and be introduced to technical aspects (moves and dribbling) of the game. It is critical for players at this age to develop their foundation for which the rest of their skills in later years will be built upon, without any type of pressure from any family members.
TAYSA’s U7-U9 recreational program is the second phase of our longâ€term developmental model for our youth soccer players. The primary focus remains on technical development (dribbling, doing moves, developing into creative players who are not worried about messing up) for which the rest of their skills in later years will be built upon, without any type of pressure from any family members.
6. Are there any spectator rules?
- NO DOGS at the fields, and keep children off of the equipment
- Parents must sit on the opposite sideline from players. NO EXCEPTIONS
- DO cheer and give positive encouragement
- DON’T coach from the sidelines or disrespect the referee
- TAYSA’s ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
1st Infraction – Referee shall stop the game and ask the coach to quiet the offending spectator
2nd Infraction – A verbal warning. Referee should stop the game and ask the coach to warn the spectator that the next infraction will be an ejection or the referee will abandon the game.
3rd Infraction – The referee shall instruct the coach to direct the spectator to leave the field. The referee should abandon the game if the spectator does not leave the field. If the referee abandons the game, the referee shall file a report, and TAYSA may impose a forfeit on the spectator team.
7. How will I know if a game is canceled due to weather?
All in-town cancelations are the responsibility of the in-town director, not your coach.
Parents are able to check this website for a status, an attempt is made to make cancellations at least an hour before the scheduled game. TAYSA will send an email blast to all members, and your coach will attempt to contact you as well. Postponements may be used to allow time for weather or conditions to improve.
