Field Crew Member - Roles & Responsibilities



AYSO REGION 116 – FIELD CREW

AYSO is a 100% volunteer organization; we do it all for the kids, based on community involvement and dependent upon volunteers, including members of the Field Crew, Board members, Coaches, and Referees. The following information provides a general outline of how you can contribute your time to the Regions Field Crew. Aside from points earned, our reward comes when we see hundreds of kids making use of our fields on game day. On the volunteer tab you may obtain information regarding Volunteer Points for the current Fall Season.

So here’s how to join... (The following steps must be completed in order to participate in any work and or receive points for your team)              

1. Submit Volunteer Application (must renew each year online at eayso.org.)

2. Complete Safe Haven (once in a lifetime certification completed & submitted online at eayso.org.)

3. Sign your Team Volunteer Form by the season deadline (provided & submitted by your child’s Coach every season)

 

4. Contact the Field Crew Coordinator for job specific instructions and training.

 

Positions & responsibilities:

After reviewing the following information please decide how you are able to support our Region and contribute to your child’s team.

 

OPENERS

Start at 7 am at a specified location on Saturday/Game days to ensure each field has all equipment needed to play the first game of the day. Equipment must be taken from the designated storage, to each field for the coaches to set up.  You will be given these locations beforehand. 

 

CLOSERS

Based on the Saturday/Game day schedule, you will arrive by the end of the last game at your specified location.  The teams of the last game on each field are responsible for breaking down the fields and packing up the equipment. Closers are to put any and all equipment back into the storage facility.

 

**Please be advised that these positions require some heavy lifting and transporting of equipment.

 

TRANSPORTER (A.M.)

Arrives at a specified storage facility @6:50 a.m. to pick up the proper equipment and deliver them to their assigned field locations.

 

TRANSPORTER (P.M.)

Based upon the game schedule, you are to arrive at your assigned location at the end of the last game to pick up all equipment which is to be returned to the proper storage facility that same day.

 

PAINTER:

With the proper paint and equipment provided, painters will stripe the assigned field(s), either the Thursday or Friday prior to each Saturday/Game day. Painters are responsible for returning the equipment and any unused paint to a storage facility or identified Board Member.

 

MENTIONABLES:

  • Due to yearly changes in our park allocations, more detailed information will be provided as the season approaches.
  • There is training available for each position upon request.
  • If you decide prior to the beginning of the season that you would like to help as a painter, there will be a group field crew training day scheduled. Please refer to the Calendar located on this website.
  • Transporters are required to use their personal vehicles to transport necessary equipment.
  • Field Crew is to assure that all equipment is present and accounted for prior to a.m. distribution and p.m. pickups.
  • Once again, please be advised that all documents must be submitted prior to beginning any work or earning any volunteer points for your child’s team.
  • All information, scheduling and or assignments will be given by the Regions Field Crew Coordinator. Please be patient, if you completed the steps mentioned to join the crew, you will be contacted. All contact information for all Board Members can be found on our Regions home page.
