Become a Referee

AYSO is 100% volunteer organization; we all do it for the kids. Each season we need as many referees as coaches if not more; refereeing is easier and less of a time commitment. AYSO is about playing Fun, Fair and Safe. Our referee training is what makes it possible. If there is no official to referee a game the kids don't get to play. Please contact our Director of Referee Instruction for details

All volunteers must submit a volunteer application each year you choose to participate.  Field Crew members will assist with painting fields, opening and closing fields and assisting with transportation of goals.  To learn more about the different roles, click on the Field Crew tab above under Volunteers.

Team Parent/Manager

A Team Parent/Manager is just as important as the coach on every team. They are the coach's assistant, cheerleader, and traffic director all in one. These are things you will already be doing if your child is on the team, so take it one more step and help the entire team operate more smoothly! All team parents must complete their Safe Haven certification before having any direct contact with the children. The head coach or the division representative can tell you where/when the classes are held. The team parent has the following responsibilities:

Before the Season:

  • Help the coach publish the roster - email, shutterfly, etc.
  • Assist on communicating schedule changes to the players
  • Create and distribute snack schedule - this can be part of a game schedule
  • Create or order the banner (optional)

During the Season:

  • Communicate with parent responsible for snacks that week as a reminder
  • Have a first-aid kit at every game and every practice
  • Extra hair ties for girls' teams
  • Extra waters available for those players that forget

End of Season:

  • Coordinate with coaches to plan team party (optional)
