Christina Gossart
Christina Gossart grew up in Frederick/Middletown and cheered for 8 years- throughout middle school and high school, including competitive cheerleading. She was named captain of the varsity squad her senior year of high school. Christina has a degree in Exercise Science, bringing a strong physical fitness aspect to the program. In 2010, she joined the MVAA Coaching staff to assist in completing an internship.
She is starting her fifth season as both a rec and competitive coach. During the fall she coaches the pony team (3rd and 4th graders); and pushes them to develop proper technique, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude towards cheer. Christina is currently the coach of the Junior Level 3 team, which have brought home many first place trophies including a National Championship at Battle of the Capital!
Christina feels very fortunate to be able to give back to the community, especially to the same program that gave her a love of cheer. The thing she loves the most about coaching: the moment an athlete successfully performs a skill they have been working so hard on and the happiness it brings them. Christina plans to stay with the MVAA where she will continue to grow as a coach and positively impact the lives of young athletes.
Kaitlyn Brant
Kaitlyn was born and raised in Middletown and cheered for seven years with the MVAA, including competitive cheer, and all four years of high school. She was named All American as well as Captain her senior year of high school. She is currently a senior at Shippensburg University where she is studying Exercise Science.
This will be Kaitlyn’s seventh year as a coach with MVAA. Before going away to school, Kaitlyn coached what is now the Senior Level 4 team and the Junior Level 3 team. She also coached the varsity rec team for many years. Kaitlyn re-joins us this year to complete an internship for school and we couldn't be more excited. She has a creative eye for choreographing routines and it shows!
Kaitlyn enjoys working with athletes to help them reach their goals while having a positive impact on their lives. She hopes to continue coaching cheerleading for many years to come.
Emily Horn
After many years of studio and competitive dance, Emily started cheering her freshman year of high school. Although she was new to the sport she excelled, becoming captain her sophomore and senior years. Emily was a member of The Galaxy All-Stars from 2003-2005.
She was an MVAA high school coach all four years of high school and has since helped the MVAA cheer program over the years. Emily used her background in cheerleading and dance to work as a ballet and cheer tumbling coach at Style Gymnastics. She was also a member of Equinox Dance Company, an all-adult modern dance company in Frederick.
Emily has a Bachelors degree in Nursing and is currently employed as a labor and delivery nurse at Frederick Memorial Hospital. After taking a hiatus from the cheer and dance word to begin her career as a nurse, Emily is excited to be back! She returned this past fall as a MVAA pony coach and is looking forward to her first year coaching the Junior Level 3 team. Emily hopes to incorporate her knowledge of cheerleading and dance to make this a successful season.
