The U18 team is making their 3rd appearance as Senior Level 4.  At this level they are competing against the best of the best and dedicate their time, effort, and determination 100% to the sport.  In 2016, their team will consist of 12 members and 3 coaches.  They are coming off a great season- winning 5 national championships, a 1st place finish in VA beach, and an overall ranking of 2nd in the nation.  This team started in competing in 2009 and truly knows what it takes to be the best.

Meet The Coaches

Missy Payne

Missy Payne has been coaching with the MVAA since 2006. She coaches JV football cheerleaders and the U18 competition squad.  She was an MVAA cheerleader in 7th and 8th grade.  In 8th grade Missy was part of the Friendship Tour, a Frederick County All Star team that performed in Disney World.  She cheered throughout high school and was named captain her freshman, junior and senior year. She made the varsity team as a sophomore and was named All American all 4 years.  She helped lead her competitive high school team to multiple victories.  She continued to cheer in college for two years at Frostburg State University.

Missy’s passion for cheerleading has allowed her to work for Spirit Unlimited as a camp director for 3 years. She is also a certified panel and safety judge for Jam Brand Competitions.

Missy is an asset to the cheer program because of her extensive knowledge and dedication to the sport.  She holds her teams to a high performance level which is always met.  Missy has helped her MVAA Competition squad bring home several 1st Place Trophies, Grand Championships, National Rankings, and 2 Virginia Beach US Finals Championships.

Missy enjoys working with a group of people that share the same commitment- growing and improving the cheerleading program.

Emily Delauter

Emily Delauter is the Varsity Coach and has been coaching since 2005.  She is also one of the coaches for the MVAA U18 Competition squad.   Emily participated in the MVAA as a cheerleader and a soccer player.   In 1993, at 9 years old, she was named as the youngest All American Cheerleader, a title she still holds.  For this honor she cheered at the Hula Bowl in Hawaii.  In 8th grade she was part of the Friendship Tour; a Frederick County All Star Team that performed in Disney World.  Emily went on to cheer and play soccer in high school.   She cheered for two years at Frostburg State University.

Emily has an extensive knowledge of cheerleading and a high level of dedication to the MVAA.  Her creativity of stunting and cheerleading has allowed her team to perform at a collegiate level.  Emily has helped bring home several 1st Place Trophies, Grand Championships, National Rankings, and a First Place National Championship.

Emily is thankful to work with people who are so passionate about cheerleading.  It is inspiring to see a program grow by leaps and bound year after year.  The MVAA athletes and coaches work together constantly reaching a new level of excellence.

Kelly Delauter

Kelly Delauter has been involved with the MVAA program for 25 years.  She started as a pony coach in the early 90’s and has coached at every level, including rec and competition.  She left the MVAA when her daughter left for college and after a 5 year break she returned as the Director for the second time.  She oversees all happenings in the rec and competitive programs.

Kelly is proud of the fact that her teams are so involved in community services events – including local celebrations, Heritage Days, Halloween’s Trunk or Treat, and church activities.  Kelly has run a successful program that includes consistent growth in numbers and skills, returning coaches, and strong parent relationships.

As Director of such a great program, Kelly is proud of everyone’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence.  Not only are the fall programs very strong and impressive, the competitive programs continue to bring home First Place trophies, National Championships, and work to winning US Finals every year.
In Kelly’s 18 years as Director she has helped over 30 cheerleaders reach All American status!  This number continues to grow each year as she has helped to instill a level of perfection in their craft.

Kelly would like to thank everyone involved with the MVAA cheer program for sharing the same vision, dedication to growing this program and nurturing young athletes.
