How Do I sign Up To Coach?

You can volunteer to coach a Region 47 team by either:

2.       Complete our Coach Interest Form - Click Here

3.       Emailing the Region 47 Coach Administrator - Click Here

I Have Signed Up To Coach. What Do I Do Next?

Go to http://www.eayso.org, log on, and then fill out an AYSO volunteer form. Submit the form with an electronic signature, and then bring a hardcopy of your form to Region 47 for verification if you are a returning volunteer.  If you are a NEW volunteer to Region 47, please print the volunteer application and bring it to a Region 47 event to turn it in.

The eayso.org system assigns you a unique AYSO ID number. It appears on your volunteer form, and also on your eayso.org profile. Keep this number as it is required for on-line coach training courses.
What Training Do I Need To Take?
As a coach, you are required to take the following three coach courses:

1.       Safe Haven. To ensure the safety of both children and volunteers, each volunteer is required to take a short online training session called Safe Haven. It focuses on safety and appropriate behavior with children as well as other on-field issues. You can take this course at htt://www.aysotraining.org.

2.       Concussion Awareness. To ensure physical safety of players, each coach volunteer is required to take a short online training session called AYSO CDC Concussion Awareness. This course teaches you how to recognize signs of possible concussion and what to do if a concussion is suspected. You can take this course at htt://www.aysotraining.org.

3.       Age Appropriate Coach Training. Whether you coach 5 year olds, or 17 year olds (and all ages in between), AYSO has a coach training course tailored specifically to the age group you coach. Our age-appropriate training techniques focus on the mental and physical abilities of each age group, within the context of player development. Coach training courses are offered by Region 47 prior to the start of each season; we post date/time/location information on our Region 471 website’s home page.
When Do I Get My Team?
Region 47 creates rosters after (1) closing player registration, (2) having identified all coaches for the age group’s division, and (3) all coaches have submitted their volunteer form, age specific training and have taken the Safe Haven and Concussion Awareness courses. Once all four criteria have been met, we will provide you with your team’s roster and player registration forms.
Now That I Have My Roster, Can I Start Practicing?
Region 47 will provide you with the authorized “practice start” date. No team may practice before this date. And you may start practice on or after this date if you have been given a team roster. Specific practice requirements as follows:

·         U5 Division: No practice allowed. Region 47 uses a “Jamboree” format for this division. Fun soccer activities and games for all players occur each weekend during the season.

·         U6 Division: Teams may practice one day per week, and for forty-five minutes per practice.

·         U8 Divisions: Teams may practice one day per week, and for one hour per practice.

·         U10 and above Divisions: Teams may practice two days per week, and up to 60 minutes per practice (total of 2 practice hours per week).

When Do Games Occur?

Region 47 will provide you a game schedule during the week prior to opening day. In general, all Fall season games are played on Saturday mornings; All games are played at the Ab Brown Sports Complex located at 3700 Placentia Lane, Riverside, CA.

Is There Any Other Way To Help?

In addition to coaching a team, there are many ways to help the region. In fact, a typical Saturday in Region 47 requires 800+ volunteers to setup and administer soccer games in a safe and fun manner. Other volunteer activities include:
Assistant Coaches
Referees
Team Picture Day Coordinators
Field Tear Down
Snack Bar
Team Parent
Team Banner Coordinators
Field Monitors

And Many Other Volunteer Opportunities
Please let a Region 47 Board Member know if you would like to support any of these activities.  With volunteers like yourself you help to ensure successfully weekends for all our kids!
