AYSO Region 47 appreciates the continued support of the City of Riverside and its Public Utilities and Park and Recreation departments for their assistance with Region 47’s superb soccer fields.
In the early 1980’s, Riverside Mayor Ab Brown championed the development of this 56 acre parcel into youth sports fields. Mayor Brown arranged for grants and in-kind contributions from many local businesses that resulted in the Snack Bar building and the first several soccer fields. Since then, Region 47 has developed many additional soccer fields and improvements and maintained everything, including the irrigation system and turf through our volunteer and fundraising efforts. Over the years, most of the proceeds of the Locomotion Tournament have been reinvested in these soccer fields. Since 1985, the City of Riverside Public Utilities Department has leased the 56 acres of land comprising the Ab Brown Sports Complex for $1 per year. As one of AYSO’s ten largest regions nationally, over 3,000 Riverside children race up and down these soccer fields each year. Region 47 is very proud of these AYSO-managed soccer fields and thanks the City of Riverside for their unwavering support of youth soccer.

AYSO IS AN ALL VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION
Parents, we know you are busy, we’re parents too — we get it, the fact remains, we are an all-volunteer organization, no one is paid– and no one has unlimited time. Someone needs to do something about this, and that someone is you! The only way to keep it running is for you, personally, to help. You do not need experience, we will train you and give you the tools and support you need. Be a coach or a referee; invest in this experience for your kids. Ask how to be a coach or referee now.
