Parents May Attend Games
In anticipation of the Hamilton Township School District approving our plan to allow parents/guardians at games beginning on Saturday, February 20, I wanted to provide everyone some details on what to expect. If any of this needs to be modified based on school district feedback, we will pass that along as appropriate.
I’ve attached the updated plan for your review. All updated bullet points are highlighted in yellow. All added wording is in bold. Here are the highlights…
Parents/guardians are still NOT allowed at practices. From a league perspective, we do not have the ability to closely monitor what happens at every practice, so we will continue with our previous plan regarding practices.
Each player will be permitted to have two parents/guardians in the gym during games. Please note, this does not mean “any two people”. We can be somewhat lenient when it comes to grandparents or care givers, but siblings or extended family will not be permitted.
Parents/guardians attending games shall complete the Google Forms Self-Assessment 30 to 60 minutes prior to arrival at the gym. All parents shall check in, and a completed Self-Assessment must be validated prior to entry to the gym.
No parent/guardian (or player) shall enter the school earlier than 15 minutes prior to game time.
All parents/guardians shall wear a mask at all times while in the school.
Parents/Guardians attending games as spectators shall sit only in designated areas. Generally, this will be the bleachers opposite the team benches. A player’s parents/guardians may sit together, but must be socially distanced in all directions from other parents/guardians at all times. That means a maximum of two people sitting next to each other. We are trying to avoid the need to mark spots on the bleachers where parents can sit. If we notice that social distancing is not being followed, we will mark spots where people will need to sit.
There shall be no congregating between parents/guardians anywhere inside the school at any time.
Parents/guardians shall exit the school immediately upon the completion of the game using the designated exit door.
At Crockett, we will now allow parents and players to enter and exit through the same door. If a game is running late, and there is a potential of people who are exiting and entering overlapping, we may instruct people to use a different door to exit on the same side of the building.
We will continue to live stream the games for those unable to attend.
As has been the case this entire season, our goal is to provide an environment that is as safe as possible for our players to play basketball. If, at any point, we feel that having the additional people in the gym jeopardizes this safe environment, we reserve the right to limit the number of parents, or revert back to our previous plan of no parents attending games.
This is a big step forward to us getting back to some level of normalcy. With your continued cooperation and compliance to our plan, I’m confident that the remainder of our season with parents in the stands will be just as successful as the first part of our season has been.
