Covid - Program Preparedness Plan

Thank you to everyone who took a minute to complete the survey that was recently sent out. While the return rate was only around 50%, we were very encouraged by the numbers.  Of those who responded, over 70% said they were planning on registering this season, and 28% were still undecided.  Only three people indicated they were not returning.

For the people who are still undecided, Covid concerns were the biggest reason why.  Many people stated that they wanted to see the league’s plan on how we intend on addressing Covid issues.  With that in mind, I wanted to provide you with our plan as early as possible so that you are able to make an informed decision on playing this season.

You may view our Program Preparedness Plan by clicking the Covid-19 menu at the top of the home page.  Much of this is designed to address the restrictions and meet the requirements as detailed in the NJ Department of Health’s Guidance for Sports Activities.

This guidance is expected to change between now and when we begin play.  We also expect to receive further direction from the Hamilton Twp. School District as we get closer to January.  We will continually update our Program Preparedness Plan as guidelines and restrictions change, and immediately notify the general membership of these changes.

Some highlights and points of emphasis:

  • Parents will NOT be allowed to attend practice or games.Only players, coaches, and league officials will be permitted in gyms. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS. This is per Executive Order #187 issued on 10/12/2020.
  • Our intention is to provide live streams of all games. There are some technology issues that need to be addressed to make it happen, but we are working on it.
  • Strictly following these guidelines and restrictions will be included in our Code of Conduct.
  • Regardless of your feelings toward Covid-19, these are the guidelines that we must work within. If they are not followed, there is no season for anyone. If you are not comfortable with the policies and procedures as outlined in this document, or, conversely, you feel that we are not going far enough, we respectfully suggest that you take this season off.
  • The Tryouts section will be completed once we decide what the tryouts format will be.
  • With the restrictions in place at this time, we are not comfortable offering an Instructional Division program. If the restrictions are lifted or modified, we will reconsider our position and update this section, if necessary.

Please know that we are doing everything we can to provide a basketball season this year in a safe environment that follows all restrictions and guidelines.  To be successful, we’re going to need the understanding and cooperation of all parents.  This includes understanding that the goal this year is to play basketball. Period.  As always, we will do our best to keep the competitive balance, but circumstances may require us to make decisions that may not always result in that happening.

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have, but I ask that you please read both of these documents completely prior to asking the question.
