Flag and Mini-Pony Rules
Both Flag and Mini-Pony
Linemen must line up head to head and not in the gap.
On a pass play, linebackers are not allowed to pass the line of scrimmage unless the quarterback tucks the ball and attempts a run. (i.e. no blitzing)
Takeaways do not count. Ball returns to the 40.
Flag
Played on a ¼ field. Field is divided at the 50 yard line and along the centerline.
Ball is placed on the 40 yard line.
Each team gets 8 minutes. You can score as many times as you can in those 8 munutes. No first downs.
Teams alternate offense for a set of plays. (So Offense, Defense, Offense, Half, Defense, Offense, Defense)
If game is running short coaches can agree to an additional 5 plays and five plays.
Mini-Pony
Played on a ½ field.
Ball placed on the 40 to start.
Each team gets 10 minutes. You can score as many times as you can in those 10 minutes.
Offense had 4 downs to move the ball 10 yards. Otherwise, ball returns to the 40.
Teams alternate every 10 minutes.
