SVPB Mission Statement

                              Our Mission Statement

Southeast Valley PONY baseball is a nonprofit corporation that offers a quality baseball program. PONY stands for Protecting Our Nation’s Youth and we strive to uphold that here at SVPB by providing a positive and safe environment for local boys and girls ages 4-19 in the Southeast Valley. SVPB strives on teaching life lessons through promoting teamwork, positive character building, good sportsmanship and friendly competition in all aspects of the game, all while developing the fundamental skills of baseball. Our goal is to provide a memorable experience and establish a culture in which every player, member, business partner and board member can work together to achieve this objective both on and off the playing field.

Why Pony Baseball?

PONY stands for Protecting Our Nation’s Youth.

We want to provide a safe outlet for all children where they can learn the game of baseball and what it means to be part of a team. We feel that these children will learn valuable lessons not only about baseball but about life. They learn skills that will help them in their future both on and off the field. It is important that we as volunteers invest time in those that choose to be part of our organization because they will become the future leaders of our community.

Southeast Valley PONY Baseball is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Our style of baseball is different than other local baseball leagues in that our rules more closely follow Major League Baseball rules. The kids learn to play baseball utilizing most of the same rules that they see the major league players following. We also utilize graduated field sizes so that they can adapt more easily as they get older to the fields that they will be playing on when they get to middle school and high school. These graduated fields were adopted in an effort to build their strength in throwing, running and hitting. Other leagues utilize the same size fields for most of their age groups and then when they get to middle school and high school it is a huge difference to them and they take longer to adapt to the larger fields.

Our Shetland and Pinto Division age groups (4-8) play on baseball fields, not in a green space with throw down bases. We also utilize pitching machines which encourages the kids to develop better swings and hitting habits as opposed to coach pitch, which unfortunately encourages bad swinging habits in the children at an early age.

Our traditional Shetland division starts our program at ages: 4,5 & 6. Our players will then move up to our Pinto division ages: 7 & 8. After that we have our Mustang division of players aged: 9 & 10. Our next division is Bronco with 11 & 12 year olds. From there our player's then move on to the Pony age group of 13 & 14 year olds. The Colt division is next for player's aged 15 & 16, with Palomino being our highest division with player's aged 17, 18 & three 19 year olds which are allowed to play in the program.

The “And Under” program starts at Pinto for players eight and-under, Mustang for players ten and-under, Bronco for players twelve and-under, Pony for players fourteen and-under, Colt for players 16 and-under and Palomino for players 19 and under. Please note that players in the baseball and-under program are only allowed to "play up" one division. Also in Palomino And-Under thirteen and fourteen year olds are not permitted to play. The PONY baseball program was created for all players to be able to participate in baseball.
