Club Organization

Vernon Youth Soccer (VYS) is a non-profit organization built and sustained by the dedication of volunteers, primarily the parents of our players, although anyone in the community is welcome to get involved.

We rely on our volunteers to fill essential roles, including:

• Coaches and Assistant Coaches
  
  

• Team Managers
  
  

• Executive Board Members positions such as president, vice-president/travel director, recreation director, secretary, registrar and treasurer which are elected positions.
  
  

• General Board Members positions such as director of fields, director of scheduling director of picture day, director of in-town referees, director of Veo, director of social media, director fundraisers/sponsorships, director of uniforms/equipment, assistant recreation director, director of entertainment, director of training which are appointed positions.

We simply could not operate VYS without the time, talent, and generosity of our volunteers. If you’re interested in contributing to a great cause and supporting local youth sports, you are in the right place!

Parent Coaching

Our Recreational Program is always in need of capable, enthusiastic coaches to guide young players. Soccer experience is helpful—but not required!

VYS provides all volunteer coaches with:

• Coaching plans and practice drills
  
  

• Access to training clinics and guidance
  
  

• Ongoing support from our coaching staff and directors

We believe great coaches start with enthusiasm, patience, and a willingness to learn. If that sounds like you, we encourage you to step in and give it a try!

Travel Coach Certification Reimbursement

VYS also reimburses the cost of coaching certifications. Courses range from introductory youth coaching to advanced high school-level training and are offered throughout the state. Please just email your completed certificate to [email protected]. 

How to Volunteer

All volunteers, including parent coaches, team managers, referees, and board members, must complete a background check through our registration process, safe sport and concussion training annually.

• The background check is free, quick, and takes about 2 minutes to complete. This requirement is in place to ensure a safe and positive environment for all players and families involved in Vernon Youth Soccer (VYS).

All members of Vernon Youth Soccer (VYS) are invited to attend our General Board Meeting. You are a member by registering your child with Vernon Youth Soccer.
