Both Baseball and Softball will be played based on OHSAA High School Rules. Each leagues set of rules will be slightly modified with the hopes of teaching Softball and Baseball in a manner that reflects how the game is played at the high school level, while doing so in a way that is age appropriate.
What does "Modified" mean?
At each age level, the AAA Board of Directors should review and discuss the rules for each age group and what is reasonable for that age level. For example, in Baseball, ages 7-8 will observe OHSAA rules. However there may be wisdom in "Modifying" the rules for this age group to not enforce Infield Fly, dropped third strike, etc.
After the rules for each league are agreed upon by the Board of Directors, these rules should be distributed to the Umpire Director and coaches before the start of the season. Coaches are encouraged to distribute the rules and educate families on the rules. Anyone can view their leagues rules on this website under the following path -

"Gentleman's agreements" ---->
*****ARE NOT ALLOWED***** An example of a Gentleman's agreement is deciding to change or ignore a rule for a game. The umpire SHALL NOT modify the rules for that game. The game is called by the book. If it is apparent a rule needs to be changed. The coach(s) should make a request to the Umpire Director who will review. If needed, the Umpire Director will forward it to the League for consideration and possible modification. The change must be posted, in writing and the umpires instructed by the Umpire Director on the change. It is
EXTREMELY rare that any rule will be changed in the current season.
