LEAGUE AGE
Your player’s league age is determined by the Little League Baseball and Little League Softball Age Charts. The dates for baseball and softball are different, but each determines the division in which your Little Leaguer will play this season. The Age Determination Date for a Little League Baseball player is the actual age of a child on August 31 of the current year. The Age Determination Date for a Little League Softball player is the actual age of a child on December 31 of the previous year.
LEAGUES
SOFTBALL - MINIS
Softball LEAGUE AGE 6- and 7-year old* softball players. Girls who are Softball LEAGUE AGE 5 but who have a birthday between January and August may play either Softball Minis or Baseball Instructional.
DESCRIPTION: Basic skills are taught and practiced. Coaches will pitch during games, with limited use of the Tee early in the season. Travel games against other towns in Chittenden County will be scheduled. Players will play multiple positions. Scores are not officially recorded. This is not a drop-off league; parents are required to stay throughout practices and games. Players may request to be on a team with 1 friend; those play requests must be mutual (both friends must request each other)
DAYS OF THE WEEK FOR GAMES & PRACTICES: 2 days per week, primarily Mon. and Fri. evenings. Because games are scheduled with other towns, there may be some games scheduled on different days of the week (most likely Wednesdays). Weekday times for April are 5:30–7 p.m.; Minis games end by 7:30 p.m.
FIELDS: Any one of the elementary schools, Dorset Park, other town parks.

SOFTBALL – MINORS
LEAGUE AGE: 8-, 9- and 10-year old* softball players.
DESCRIPTION: Player/coach pitch travel league which prepares players for the more competitive Majors at the next level. Skill level increases and strategy is now being introduced. The league focuses on skill development. Players will play a variety of positions.
DAYS OF THE WEEK FOR GAMES & PRACTICES: 3-4 days per week. Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and/or Sunday; JC Park, Dorset Park, Upper Farrell Park, other town parks. Games will be played against local towns, so away games require travel and on occasion can be on different days of the week. Weekday times for April are 5:30–7 p.m.; Sundays will be used for practices, and times will vary.
FIELDS: Jaycee Park, Upper Farrell Park, Dorset Park, FHTMS and fields at other towns in the area.
SKILLS CHECK: SBYBS wants to do its best to ensure a balance of skilled players on each team. To that end, all Softball Minors registrants will be asked to attend a “skills check” in order to assist the league in creating balanced teams. The date, time and place of this skills check will be emailed at a later date.

SOFTBALL – MAJORS
LEAGUE AGE: 11- and 12-year-old* softball players.
DESCRIPTION: Player pitch league. Play is faster and pitching becomes more consistent and accurate. Strategy becomes an integral part of the game.
DAYS OF THE WEEK FOR GAMES & PRACTICES: 3-4 days per week. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and/or Sunday. Softball Majors play games against local towns so away games require travel and on occasion can be on different days of the week. Weekday times for April are 5:30–7 p.m.; Sat. and Sun times vary. Sundays will be primarily used for practice.
FIELDS: JC Park, Upper Farrell Park, FHTMS Middle School and fields in other towns in the area.
