General Information

Our non-profit program is an affiliated performance recreational program associated with SYC Youth Club. We are not an All-start team.
We're especially eager to welcome new athletes from our community into our program, which is not only affordable but also offers multiple payment plans, all while fostering a strong sense of community among our athletes.

For athletes ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade, we anticipate forming 2 or 3 full-year teams, running from August to the first week of March. Additionally, for high school-aged athletes, we're considering creating a half-year (August to 1st week of April) level 2 team to accommodate any commitments they may in high school.

For those interested in attending the evaluation, here's what you need to know:
- Complete the required form at: https://forms.gle/fxBA5BAxpR352oMc7
- Please bring a copy of your athlete's birth certificate for our records, if you are new to our program.
- A $10 fee will be collected at the check-in table.
- Athletes will begin with stretching and warming up, followed by demonstrating their standing and running tumbling skills, as well as a connected jump with the guidance of our coaches.
- Once the skills demonstration is complete, athletes are free to leave.

What is Competitive Cheer?

The SYC Competitive Cheerleading Squad is a competitive, recreation cheer program that incorporates a cheer, dance, jumps, high level stunting, and tumbling into a choreographed 2 ½ minute routine to compete in area cheer competitions.

Who Can Participate?

Competitive cheer is open to cheerleaders within the ages of 5-18 and in the SYCSD or surrounding Southern York County area. All participants must attend tryouts/placements in order to qualify for the team. Our cheerleaders cheer for football and basketball cheer through the recreation program, the middle school cheer team, and the high school varsity teams.

What is the Commitment?

Pre-Season Tumbling:
Participants must be enrolled in a tumbling program from June-September. The squad is planning on attending a group class at Titanium Athletics, however, independent tumbling classes are permitted if the squad class does not fit your family’s schedule. Periodic check-ins for tumbling progress must be coordinated with the coaches if you choose not to participate in the squad tumbling class.

Practice:

Participants must be prepared for intensive practices to initially learn and improve the choreography of the routine from late August and continuing through March. Practices are mandatory. If a child is going to miss a practice, you must notify the coach before the practice. If a child misses 2 practices they are at risk for removal from the team. We do reserve the right to remove any child who does not report to practices and competitions. Practice takes place at Titanium Athletic on Sunday and Monday evenings.

Competitions:

The squad will participate in approximately 5-7 competitions from December through March. All competitions will be within a single day’s travel distance (approximately 2-3 hours). All competitions are on either Saturdays or Sundays.

Fees:
APPROX $800-1200 program fee for teams will include the bow, gym rental fee, competition fee, Youth Club insurance, and cost of choreography & music. Payments may be made in increments from June through September. The price will be dependent on how many cheerleaders are selected for the team. It varies. Uniform will be a separate cost.

Additional expenses will include:

  • Indoor Cheerleading Shoes – (available from Flying Feet for $52)
  • Cheer Warm Ups – To be ordered with uniform (approximately $150)
  • Cheer Bag – To be ordered as a group with uniform (approximately $60)
  • Tumbling Classes - Either with the team or independently (as described above) (generally $16/session @ Titanium Athletics)
  • Note: The fee does not include individual discretionary travel costs associated with each competition. We encourage carpooling but travel arrangements will be the responsibility of each cheer family.

Official registration forms and payment options will be provided after tryouts/evaluations and invitations to the cheer squad are determined.
