2020 Skills Assessment Information

** SKILLS ASSESSMENT INFORMATION **

Please note: Those registered in the tee ball, rookie/ponytail, or minors divisions of baseball and softball do not need to attend any portion of the skills assessment.

If your player is registered for the competitive divisions of Majors/Intermediate/Junior/Senior baseball or Majors/Jr Sr Softball, please read on.

A skills assessment is not a tryout.  Please understand that everyone registered for a competitive division with St. Mary's Little League will be placed on a team.

The goal of a skills assessment is multi-faceted.
- It allows managers and coaches to identify any safety concerns in order to appropriately place players in the correct division and allow them to be successful.
- It allows the league to ensure that players of equivalent talent levels are spread across the division and allows each team to be competitive.
- It allows the league to ensure that each team has a sufficient number of specialty players, such as pitchers and catchers.

For Majors Softball and Jr/Sr Softball:
If your player is returning to the same division in which they participated in the Spring 2019 season, and if your player wants to return to his/her former team
, they do not need to attend the skills assessment.
(Note- the exception may occur when the League is forced to shrink a division due to registration numbers and reduce the number of teams.  In this instance, the players agent will reach out and communicate the situation with you prior to the skills assessment).

If your player is returning to the same division in which they participated in the Spring 2019 season and wants to change teams, it should be clearly indicated on the player's registration.  That player should then attend one of the scheduled skills assessment sessions.
Please note- failure to indicate the desire to be redrafted will result in the player being assigned a team via the blind draft at the conclusion of Draft Week.

If your player is registering for a division other than the one that they played in during the Spring 2019 season, or if your player is new to our League
, they should attend the skills assessment

For Majors Baseball, Intermediates Baseball, and Juniors Baseball:

The 2020 Spring Season will be a 100% redraft.  All players should plan to attend one of the skills assessment sessions.

If your player is unable to attend one of the Skills Assessment sessions, they will be assigned to a team via the blind draft at the conclusion of Draft Week.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your respective Players Agent
