** SKILLS ASSESSMENT INFORMATION **
Please note: Those registered in the tee ball, coach pitch/ponytail, or minors divisions of baseball and softball do not need to attend any portion of the skills assessment.
If your player is registered for the competitive divisions of Majors/Intermediate/Junior/Senior baseball or Majors/Jr Sr Softball, please read on.
A skills assessment is not a tryout. Please understand that everyone registered for a competitive division with St. Mary's Little League will be placed on a team.
The goal of a skills assessment is multi-faceted.
- It allows managers and coaches to identify any safety concerns in order to appropriately place players in the correct division and allow them to be successful.
- It allows the league to ensure that players of equivalent talent levels are spread across the division and allows each team to be competitive.
- It allows the league to ensure that each team has a sufficient number of specialty players, such as pitchers and catchers.
For Majors Softball and Jr/Sr Softball:
The 2021 Spring Season will be a 100% Draft. All players should plan to attend one of the skills assessment sessions.
If your player is unable to attend one of the Skills Assessment sessions, they will be assigned to a team via the blind draft at the conclusion of Draft Week.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your respective Division VP.
