Rookie Division: 7-8yrs:
Players move up from T-ball to a pitching machine in the Rookie Division. By controlling the pitches with a pitching machine, there is more action at the plate and in the field. Fear of being hit by a pitched ball is diminished. It makes the game safer and improves the playing confidence and ability of all participants. Rookie Division provides players with a better understanding and concept of the game. Basic skills are refined and stressed, kids generally play multiple positions. Score is not recorded at this level.
- Pitching machine is set to 40mph.
- Batters get 5 pitches to put the ball in play.
- All players play in the field, with only 1 player at each infield position.
- Defensive inning is over when 3 outs are made or the entire lineup has had an at-bat.
- Games last for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Games are played once per week, on Saturday mornings.
- Practices are held 1 night per week.
