Coach Pitch Division (League Age 6-8)
What: Coach Pitch is the transitional division from T-Ball to baseball. In the Coach Pitch division, the focus is on introducing basic baseball concepts while acquainting the kids with the larger Little League field. We do not keep score in Coach Pitch and while the games can be competitive, the rules are modified to minimize strike outs and give each kid an equal opportunity to participate and succeed. Games generally last about an hour and a half.
Who: This league is designed primarily for league age 7 players (generally first graders), but competitive league age 6 players (generally kindergarteners) may also participate, as may league age 8 players (generally second graders) who would like more experience before playing in the Competitive Machine Pitch division. There are no evaluations in Coach Pitch and the league attempts to place kids on teams with friends or classmates to ensure that each kid has a positive experience. Please note any teammate requests in the “Teammate Request” Section when you register your child on the McIntire website.
When and Where: The Spring Coach Pitch season runs from Mid-March through early June with approximately 8 regular season games. Fall Coach Pitch runs from early September through the end of October. Coach Pitch teams play 1 game a week on Saturdays with 1 practice per week. Most games are played at McIntire Park with practices held at various other baseball fields in the Charlottesville area.
Registration Information: Spring 2021 registration will remain open until early March and any kids who register after that date will be placed on a waiting list. Fall 2021 registration opens early July through mid August. Please be sure to check back on our website for schedule updates.
