Upper Minors Division Overview

Upper Minors Division (League Age 8-11)

Upper Minors is the 2nd highest division of McIntire Little League, and the earliest division where kids pitch.  Upper Minors is a competitive baseball division with modified Little League rules (stolen base limits, inning scoring limits, etc.).  Score is kept during games, standings are kept during the season and there is a postseason tournament.  The most skilled players may be eligible for the McIntire 8-10 All Star team.  This division is designed to prepare players for the Majors division by the time they reach league age 11.

When and Where:  The Upper Minors season runs from Late August through October with approximately 8 regular season games played.  Parents should expect Upper Minors teams to have 1 game each week on Saturdays with 1 practice per week.  All games are played at McIntire Park with practices held at various other baseball fields in the Charlottesville area.

The Upper Minors division is designed primarily for league age 9 and 10 players (generally 3rd and 4th graders).  The division is also appropriate for league age 11 players (generally 5th graders) who do not play in the Majors division, and some league age 12 players may play as well (though may not pitch).   While an effort is made to accommodate player requests in assembling teams, balancing talent across teams is a priority in the Upper Minors division and we will not be able to accommodate all requests.  Please note any teammate requests in the “Teammate Request” Section when you register your child on the McIntire website.

Registration Information:
Fall 2018 registration will remain open until August 24th and any kids who register after that date will be placed on a waiting list.  Please be sure to sign up for the league newsletter McIntire Newsletter or check back to our website for schedule updates.
