Long before USA Hockey and Medford Youth Hockey as we know it today, Medford, MA was the home of some very talented home grown hockey players, coaches and referees.
From the 1940's to the mid-1990's Team USA Men's Ice Hockey team rosters were made up of amateur college hockey players. In the 1940's to the 1950's, the USA Olympic Hockey Committee would form regional ice hockey teams to compete with each other in a series of tournament games with the winner representing the country as Team USA.
Back in the 1940's, Medford had the three Riley brothers and Jack Garrity in the mix to play in the Olympics. Only problem, they placed players on different teams so all (4) players never made it together. Listed below are the "Kids From Medford, MA" who were able to play in the past Winter Olympics. That all changed in 1998, when professional hockey players from the United States were allowed to participate.
