Brandywine wins Delaware District 2 Championship.

Game Recaps:

Game #1

The NALL Internation team started District play losing 8-0 to Canal at the VFW field  Although the score line made it look one sided, the game was nip and tuck of most of the way.  After giving up a 3 run HR in the 2nd, the boys gave up 4 little bloop hits, and the breaks did not go their way.  And to make matters worse, they were not able to get the key hit at the key time.  But, that is why it is a double elimination tournament.

Game Recaps:

Game #2

The Great 8's took the field against New Castle on Monday 6/26.  After having a rough game against an extremely talented Naamans squad in Game #1, the team showed true character and all-star skill by rallying back from a 14-4 deficit after the 3rd inning.  Even though the game ended with a 15-13 loss the team gave their fans plenty to cheer about.  Aiden Bowerson and Robbie Coleman both had a stellar performance behind the plate.  Griffin Irvine went 3-3 and Max Luxton, Ryan Baxter, and Braydon Pray were all 2-3.  Stephen Williams showed off his defensive skills by using that stretch on 1B to make the outs.  The whole team played their hearts out and left the tournament with their heads held high.  Great job to the American 8s!  You make NALL proud!

Naamans wins Senior District Tournament.

Game Recaps:

Game #1:

The NALL Seniors lose a tight game against cross town rival National, 4-2.  Four errors ended up ruining the chances for the Blue and Yellow to pull out a win, casuing all 4 of National's runs to be unearned.  Josh Nicholson scattered 6 hits over 6 innings pitched, and collected 2 hits on offense.  Hayden Harach and Chris Bond each drove in a run.

Game #2:

The NALL Seniors jumped out to 10-1 lead over Canal, before hitting a minor speed bump and allowing 10 runs in the bottom of the 4th.  However, the boys dug deep and created a 2 out rally in the top of the 5th by scoring 5 to take the lead of 15-11.  The Seniors ended up holding on to win 15-12.  Hayden Harach had a monster of a game, going 4-5 with 5 RBI.  Chris Bond and Johnny Ueltzhoffer drove in 2 runs each.  Patrick LaPorte, Lance Wunder, Hayden Harach, Travis Begley, and Josh Nicholson each scored multiple runs.  The Seniors next game is on Thursday 6/29 @ National Senior Field @ 6:30 against National.

Game #3:

The Seniors beat Newark National 11-5.  National had a 2-0 lead thru 4 innings and had a 5-4 lead after 5 innings.  After scoring 3 in the top of the 6th Nick Dalton put the game out of reach with a bases loaded triple in the top of the 7th. For the game Nick drove in 5 RBI and scored twice. AJ Hudson and Lucas McCully drove in 2 runs each. Chris Bond went 3-4 and scored 3 times.

Game #4:

The NALL Seniors won the losers bracket of the District 2 Tournament with a 9-0 victory over Midway.  Chris Bond and Josh Nicholson combined to pitch a 4 hit shutdown.  Chris especially was nasty tonight, striking out 11 batters in 4 innings.  The most impressive stretch for Chris was getting out of a bases loaded no out jam in the bottom of the 4th by striking out the next 3 batters.  Josh Nicholson pitched an efficient 3 innings, all on 34 pitches in relief to finish the game.

The score was 1-0 after 5 innings, Hayden Harach provided breathing room with a 2 run single in the top of the 6th, and then he hit a mammoth triple to dead center that would have cleared any fence in District 2, except for the 408 foot wall at Brandywine's Dyer Field.  Hayden finished the game with 3 RBI.

Lucas McCully went 2-5 on the night with 2 RBI, while Patrick LaPorte and Travis Begley each scored twice.

The Seniors have advanced to the District 2 Championship Rounds against Naamans.
