The purpose of the Rookie to Minor Level Clinics is to introduce players moving up from the Rookie Division to the skills needed in the Minor Division. Players will learn to hit kid pitching, base running, and fielding techniques used at the Minor Division Level. The goal is to prepare players moving up from the Rookie Division to the Minor Division and minimize the transition during the early Spring season.
Age:
- Any 7yo turning 8yo prior to May 1, 2019 and skills evaluated beyond Rookie Division
- Any 8yo turning 9yo prior to May 1, 2019 and completed Rookie Division eligibility
- Any 9yo or 10yo prior to May 1, 2019 that completed their first year of Minor Division and will play at the Minor Division
Level in the Spring 2019 season.
Dates:
- Clinics start September 8, 2018 and run through the end of October.
- Sessions will run each Saturday from 10:30am - 12:30pm

Saturday Sessions: 10:30am to 12:30pm (subject to change depending on enrollment)

Skills:
- Hitting
-> batting stance
-> develop hand-eye coordination through soft-toss, coach pitch, and kid pitch
-> proper hitting techniques without fear of being hit by a pitched ball.
- Fielding
-> learn ready position for fielding and what to do if ball is hit to them
-> awareness of fielding positions
-> learning positional coverages
-> throwing out the lead runner
-> proper overhand throwing techniques to build arm strength and accuracy
-> throwing around the bases
-> fielding fly balls and throwing to cut-off man
- Base Running
-> rounding first base
-> leads after the ball have been pitched
-> when to take an extra base
-> tagging up on a fly ball
-> sliding
- Mini Games
-> toward the end of the clinics, the players will break up into two teams and play mini games to practice the skills
