In memory of our friend, Rick Sozio:
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news about the passing of Rick Sozio on March 4, 2023. Rick was a beloved member of our TAA family. As a longtime Tabernacle resident, Rick served as Director of the TAA Baseball Program from 2010 – 2012 and the Vice President of TAA from 2012 - 2014. During his 6-year leadership tenure with TAA, Rick had one singular focus - to brighten the lives of children who participated in the organization's sports programs.
For those who had the honor and pleasure of working with Rick, we all recognized that underneath that gruff exterior was a man with a heart as big as the universe. Rick deeply loved, cared for and supported his family, friends and the entire Tabernacle community. Words simply cannot capture Rick’s dedication of time, passion, and effort that he poured into successfully running the TAA Baseball program. For Rick, it was always and without question about the children -- giving them opportunities to have fun, play ball and create fond memories on the very fields he played on growing up in Tabernacle.
As the TAA Baseball Director Rick embraced the daunting responsibilities of maintaining a highly competitive baseball program while also working continuously to improve the Patty Bowker Recreational Complex for everyone in our community. Somehow he also found time to coach his son Alec’s teams in a game they both loved and in doing so, made lasting memories for hundreds of baseball players. Rick played a pivotal role in the ground breaking and construction of the gorgeous new concession stand that TAA uses today to help fund our programs and fulfill our mission as an organization.
Rick's guidance, leadership, and tremendous accomplishments left a profound and indelible mark on the success of the TAA. We will always remember and cherish his friendship, dedication and immeasurable contributions to the organization that continue to reverberate throughout our close-knit and wonderful community.
