GHSA (Georgia High School Association) registration requirements.

·       All officials must meet the minimum requirements for officials assigned to cover games for GHSA schools.

There are two application forms, GHSA and AABOA.

·       New Members information for uniforms, schools, rule changes, policies, and procedures, etc. are at www.aaoba.com   Uniforms are the personal responsibility of each official.

·       Approved Background check on file. Officials with current year background checks from government employers, prior sport, or other sport associations, public or private schools, may have a copy forwarded to [email protected]. Transfer officials in Georgia may forward a background check approved in the last 3 years.

·       E-Verification (current Driver’s License). Send a photocopy to:  [email protected]

 

AABOA additional registration requirements and information.   

·       Payment of $ 70.00 annual dues – GHSA Payments of $ 32.00 is  made in the Dragonfly Max process system. The AABOA fee is $ 43.00. An additional background check fee is $ 10.00 and covers 5 years. (Fee is waived with presentation of a current year approved background check) The AABOA fee is made httos://aaboaregistration.com

·       An optional GHSA game card may be purchased for entrance into any of the GHSA sport contests in the current school year, including state tournaments. The application is at https:dragonflymax.com/ghsa. Registration with GHSA is required to access application for the GHSA game card.  

·       Registration is open July 1 to Dec 30. Late registration fees ($10) begins December 16.

Ø  While registration is open through the December deadline game assignments would be limited to only officials with prior experience and on a needed only basis.

Ø  Officials moving in to the ATL area can attend trainings and access Rules and Exam requirements by web if registration has been completed and fees paid.

Ø  Varsity assignments for transfer officials without GHSA Rule Clinic and Rules Exam Credit incur an additional $ 50.00 AABOA registration fee for Varsity Game Assignments.

MINIMUM EXPECTATIONS for participation by all officials new to AABOA.  

·       One of the GHSA pre-season camps offered in June, August, and September. See 2022 GHSA Basketball Camps | GHSA.net – Last Camp is now Oct 2, 2022

·       Completion of On-Line Rules Clinic & On-Line Rules Exam

·       GHSA Rules Clinic – October 22, 2022 – November 11, 2022.

·       GHSA Rules Exam – October 28, 2022 - November 11, 2022. Access thru DragonFly.

·       Orientation for New Members & Attendance minimum of 3 Pre-season sessions and 2 pre-season scrimmages. Scrimmage exemption for transferring Post Season  officials.

·       Participation in Pre-season scrimmage session(s) as determined by the AABOA Game Assigner.  

·       Transferring Post season experienced officials should supply complete resume and reference to the Game Assigner. [email protected] who will determine any exceptions to pre-season scrimmage requirements.

PRE-SEASON TRAINING SESSIONS: New and Returning Member

1.      Orientation: New officials and transfer officials new to GHSA.

2.     On site location will be gym at Roswell Street Baptist Church (RSBC) / 774 Roswell St SE, Marietta, GA 30060 - https://roswellstreet.com

3.     Time – 7:00 PM. Check-in 6:30-6:55 PM.

 

PRE-SEASON TRAINING SESSION DATES: For Registered officials.

·       September 26 – New Member Orientation

·       October 3, 10, 17, 24

·       October 29 (Sat gym session with approved summer officiating equipment) Black shoes, shorts or pants, and official’s shirt, (2 inch GHSA, or new grey GHSA), whistle, lanyard. Notebook, rule, and case book.

Ø  Important session for all new member and returning members with 3 or less years’ Varsity experience, and those with no prior varsity experience.

Ø  Important session for transfer officials with no prior post season experience.

·       October 31, November 7- Zoom sessions for all members.

 

PRE-SEASON Team Scrimmage Sessions: 

·       Pre-season scrimmage dates  will be posted and communicated through associational email updates.

 

INDEPENDENT CONTRATOR AGREEMENT: 

·         Officials are independent contractors, not employees of AABOA.

GAME FEES & PAYMENT PROCESS:

·         GHSA game fees are published on the Georgia High School Association web site at

·       AABOA receives payment from its assigned schools (per invoice for services) at the completion of the current basketball season. Officials are payed at the end of the season business meeting and awards presentation. Date TBA
