STEFAN BLOMQVIST
With over 35 years of active participation and coaching in Track and Field, Stefan brings an extensive knowledge base to share with Hill Country Comet athletes. His amazing passion for the sport started in 1977 in Gothenburg, Sweden, when he joined the Orgryte Track Club. In his long career he has competed in almost all events, winning multiple National Championship titles in both Sweden and in the United States at the collegiate level. He has proudly represented Team Sweden on eight different occasions.
Born in Sweden, Stefan came to the United States in 1988 on a track scholarship to compete for Blinn Jr. College. He then transferred to Angelo State University to compete, and was later a throwing coach at both Angelo State University and Texas State University. He now enjoys coaching his two son, Ben and Noah.
As a life time competitor, he still trains regularly and is looking forward to competing on the masters level.
JANE BLOMQVIST
With a strong belief that above all, sports should be fun, Jane is excited to have the opportunity to coach the local youth. "I believe my primary job as a coach is to instill the love of sport in children....it has to be fun so that they will want to keep doing it." Jane found her love for running early on at the Field Days in kindergarten. "I ran so fast in the 100m I even beat all the boys. I loved running from then on." She competed throughout high school in the 400m, 800m, mile relay, shot put, and discus. After high school she received an athletic scholarship and attended Angelo State University where she competed for the Rambelle Track Team in cross country, 800m and 400m hurdles. Nowadays, she enjoys coaching and watching her sons compete, and is always cheering on her husband at the shot put ring!
